"King Yaka.. You couldn't have said it any better. A handful of us Nigerians don't really know our history especially with Music/Culture etc. I'm 38years old and grew up playing my dad's Vinyl(A lot of which I still own and play till today) more than 80% of his collection was Zaire/Congolese music.  collection that he had before I was even born."

Yes we all love our new Nigerian music taking over Africa but there's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING original about it. That's why we cant listen to them more than 3/6 months rotation tops and we are unto the next song.

The current crop of music is ALL Ghanaian beats/sound but some Nigerians will still argue blindly. (From Runtown, Davido,Tekno etc)

I'm coming back here 4 years later and everything sounds to fresh. Clean signature Congolese guitar sound, the sound of the congas, the snare drum kills me every time, syncopation of the bass drum and bass guitar, Horns, various dimensions in different verses. (No copy and paste)..

"Emeka you're damn right. from grandpa, to father, to son, grandkids etc... amen 😂😂😂😂 Nigerian tracks are good but sounds fake sometimes. In Congo, once a song hits hard, it never dies...in fact if u understand what they say, most are recycled from previous artists (alive or deceased (RIP). Same goes to the instruments played in the background which kills me. They are still kicking at the end of the day.

Congo square was the only area in New Orleans where slave could play their traditional songs and dancers which was banned in america at the time so it became quite famous, New Orleans is the birth place of Jazz which is the foundation of all African american music

"Gina Amadin I beg to differ. I love Nigerian music, and I would listen to it in the club, but nothing compares to Congolese music. The reason they don't play it in clubs is cause it has soul, not to be played in such places as clubs. I play Naija tunes everyday, but I never go to sleep without the good old Congo music. "@tony carter  It is extremely funny how our nigerian brothers even consider themselves as musicians. The majority of their stars cannot even sing and play musical instruments properly. It is pretty obvious they are spending money to influence people to validate their poor music by buying BET and Grammy awards. Lol.

In short, South Africans and Tanzanians are musically better than Nigerians.

That's being said, no country on earth can compete against DR.Congo musically except maybe USA.

The group was a loose arrangement that allowed its four members to pursue their own projects while they were members of Les Quatre Etoiles.[3]: 271  In 1983-84, he recorded another three albums under the name Les Kamale Dynamiques Du Zaire.

In the late 1980s Nyboma also joined Pepe Kalle, his old bandmate from Bella Bella and Lipua Lipua, on two records produced by Ibrahima Sylla, Zouke Zouke and Moyibi (meaning "thief"), in a combination contrasting "Pépé Kallé's earthy baritone voice with Nyboma's airy tenor."[3]: 349 [11] Nyboma’s 1995 album Anicet was also produced by Sylla, whose signature is evident from the polished, multi-layered songs in the album—including a song in which Nyboma pays tribute to Malcolm X (in a song of the same title) and to Pan-Africanism in a song entitled Abissina.[12]

"Soukous is a genre of dance music[1] that originated from Cuban Rumba music in the Belgian Congo and French Congo during the 1940s and gained popularity throughout Africa.

Soukous is known as Congo in West Africa and Lingala in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania after the Lingala language of the lyrics. In Zambia and Zimbabwe, where Congolese music is also influential, it is still usually referred to as Rumba. It mixes the kwasa kwasa with the fast tempo zouk style and Congolese rumba.
