intensive care nurse for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, was
shot and killed by United States Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis,
Minnesota. This occurred amid widespread protests against a federal immigration
crackdown and followed the January 7 fatal shooting of Renée Good, also by
federal officers.
Video recordings of the incident showed Pretti filming law
enforcement agents with his phone and directing traffic. Pretti stood between
an agent and a woman whom the agent had pushed to the ground, putting his arm
around the woman.[2] He was subsequently pepper-sprayed and wrestled to the
ground by several federal agents, with around six surrounding him when he was
shot and killed.[3][4][5] Bystander video verified and reviewed by Reuters, the

agent removing a gun and moving away from Pretti less than a second before

to carry a handgun, the publicly available video evidence reviewed by the paper
does not show him holding one.[11] In reviewing video evidence, Reuters, the
BBC and The New York Times all concluded that he was holding a cell phone, not
a gun, in the moments before being tackled.[7][9][12] Agents appear to shoot at
him at least ten times within five seconds, beginning while he was pinned to
the ground and continuing after he collapsed and his body lay
motionless.[9][12][8]
The Trump administration defended the shooting. Its
narrative hinges on claims that, in the assessment of The Minnesota Star
Tribune, are uncorroborated or contradicted by witnesses and video

The Portland protest frogs are multiplying.
Our reporters at the ICE building Thursday night counted several frogs, a unicorn, a polar bear, an axolotl, a raccoon, a peacock, a shark and a cat among about 100 regularly dressed people.

I I hated this article. I hated it.

[The article’s writer] is absolutely showing her complete and total ignorance of the strategy and tactics, the thoughtfulness, the planning and the efficacy of what Portlanders are doing.
We know that humor and ridicule using absurd tactics, leaning into levity and whimsy, all of that creates a contrast between the brutality, the extremity, the illegality of the regime and the protesters themselves. It also does a fantastic job of undercutting and disproving the lies of the regime.
The regime is claiming that Portlanders are all violent Antifa extremists, domestic terrorists, and that we are waging war, that it's a war zone. It's hell on earth here.
The tactics that we here in Portland are using, starting with kids like that young man in a chicken suit. I don't know if I can say his real name. I don't know if his name is known. When you dress up in a chicken suit and you hand out cookies, when you wear an inflatable frog costume and you're air humping ICE.
Us here in Portland being silly and light-hearted and using these tactics, it is pointing out how absolutely absurd, false, unhinged, and completely disconnected from reality the claims of the regime are. Nobody thinks fairies in tutus blowing bubbles, folks playing trumpets in banana suits, guys in chicken suits challenging Kristi Noem to go get a Subway sandwich with him are violent extremists that require the use of the military to restore peace to Portland, Oregon.
The fact that all of that was a big whoosh for this author to me says one, she should go read about effective non-violent resistance tactics.
The power of the symbols that we are creating, the meaning that we are creating through the strategies that we are using here in Portland, how we are gaining control of the narrative and doing tremendous work to undermine the Regime.

The Portland protest frog didn’t let a stream of chemical spray shot directly at his costume’s air vent stop him. A TikTok video of the onslaught by a federal agent is now up to at least 1.4 million likes.
It happened as people were peacefully protesting on the sidewalk in front of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office at around 11 p.m. on Oct. 2, said the man in the frog suit, Seth Todd, 24, of Portland.

Black folks on social media are warning Black Americans not
to participate in an upcoming global protest against the Trump administration
and Elon Musk.
On Saturday, April 5, thousands of people in the U.S. and around the world are preparing to protest Trump in what they are calling “Hands Off! National Day of Action.”
According to Third Act, one of the organizations that helped put together this massive Hands Off protest said the event is meant to stand up against those who believe they can take whatever they want—our democracy, our future, our rights. So far, more than 600 events have been planned across all 50 states. Events have also been planned in Europe and Canada.
Black voices on social media took these words to heart and warned Black people of the dangers they could face if they participated in the upcoming protests.
It’s worth mentioning that some Black commentators on the post said they were still protesting no matter what. And although many are warning Black people not to protest in the streets, it hasn’t stopped them from boycotting in other ways.

Around 200, mostly American protesters opposing US President Trump gathered in central London on April 05. The "Hands Off!" demonstration in the British capital is part of the wider protest organised in different part of the world. A few hundred demonstrators, mainly Americans living in Paris, also protested against US President Donald Trump's policies. They protestors showed their discontent at his and billionaire ally Elon Musk's rapid-fire effort to overhaul government, expand presidential authority.
