Comments & Tweets About Joe Biden Referring to Trump As "Abraham Lincoln" During The Third Presidential Debate (Oct. 22, 2020)

 Edited by Azizi Powell

This pancocojams post focuses on tweets/comments that refer to Democratic nominee for United States President Joe Biden's comment "Abraham Lincoln over here is one of the most racist presidents we’ve had in modern history." That comment was made in reference to the 45th United States President Donald Trump during the 3rd presidential debate on October 22, 2020.

by Andrew Romano, October 23, 2020
….The second standout moment was when Welker asked Biden and Trump about “the talk” — that is, if they understand why Black and brown families have to prepare their children for potentially hostile encounters with police because of the color of their skin.

Biden responded by referring to his social-worker daughter, who has studied the subject.

“I do [understand],” Biden said. “I never had to tell my daughter, if she’s pulled over: Put both hands on top of the wheel and don't reach for the glove box, because someone may shoot you. But a Black parent, no matter how wealthy or how poor they are, has to teach their child: Don’t have a hoodie on when you go across the street. Making sure that if you get pulled over, just ‘Yes, sir, no sir,’ hands on top of the wheel.”

Trump also said he understood, then immediately switched gears.

“Nobody has done more for the Black community than Donald Trump,” the president claimed. “If you look, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln — possible exception — but the exception of Abraham Lincoln, nobody has done what I’ve done."...

Biden sarcastically called Trump “Abraham Lincoln here.” The president didn’t get it and straightened him out at the presidential debate.
By Mary Papenfuss, 10/23/2020 02:00 am ET
"In case Americans needed any clarification, Donald Trump declared in the final presidential debate Thursday night that he does not claim to actually be Abraham Lincoln.

Trump cleared that up in response to a zinger from Democratic rival Joe Biden, which apparently went right over the president’s head.

Trump once again boasted that “nobody has done more for the Black community than Donald Trump ... with the exception of Abraham Lincoln.” He also shockingly claimed that he was the “least racist person in this room” (which included Kristen Welker, the first black moderator at a presidential debate since 1992).

Biden scoffed: “Abraham Lincoln over here is one of the most racist presidents we’ve had in modern history. He pours fuel on every single racist fire. Every single one.”

Trump was confused. “You made a reference to Abraham Lincoln here,” the president responded. “Where did that come in?”

“You said you’re Abraham Lincoln,” Biden quipped again.

That’s when Trump felt compelled to clear things up: “No, I didn’t say I’m Abraham Lincoln. I said, ‘Not since Abraham Lincoln has anybody done what I’ve done for the Black community.’”

Even when invited by the moderator to speak directly to racial-minority families, President Trump could talk only about himself—boast that he had done more for African Americans than all previous presidents except maybe Abraham Lincoln, maybe.

A "diss" is an African American Vernacular English term for an insult. Other tweets referred that comment from Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden as a "joke", a "retort", and "zinger", among other terms.

I wish Biden would've finished it and told he was being sarcastic when he called him Abe Lincoln and that it's an insult to humanity that he even mentioned himself in the same breath as Abe Lincoln.
