POSSIBLE EXPLANATIONS FOR THE QUESTION - "HOW MANY ____?" ANSWER -"YES" JOKES
One commenter (comment #42 below) wrote that "Yes" ("Yass") in these "How many __ questions means "all of them". I think "Yes" may also mean "a lot" or "as many/as much as I want".

It's possible that these Question - "How many ___?" Answer- "Yes" ("Yass") jokes are variations of the jokes that are discussed in the following excerpts:
From https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/2ib69s/why_do_people_answer_yes_to_questions_that_arent/

"Why do people answer "yes" to questions that aren't "yes or no" questions?
Answered!
I've seen it a lot on reddit but have no clue where it originated from. Or maybe it's just something people do to be annoying in general?

Here is a scenario which explains my question better:

Q: Was it a red hat or a blue hat?

A: Yes."

"Hijacking this comment near the top.

This is what's known as "inclusive or" in computer science/logic.

So, when either one answer OR the other is correct, the output is True (or Yes in this case). Which is as opposed to "exclusive or" which is what people are commonly using in spoken language: One OR the other, but not both.

Here's a link to inclusive or for more info: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inclusive_or#undefined

"I think answering "yes" has the meaning of "either", not "both". It's like if someone asks "are you a boy or a girl?" answering yes is saying "yes, i am a boy or a girl" not "yes, i am a boy and a girl""

6. Bumblemeister, 2014
"More like an "any of the above", esp in lists with more than two"

7. Sir_Von_[profanity deleted], 2014
"Wow. People here are way off the mark.
It's sort of an anti-joke. The 'yes' isn't meant to be helpful, it's meant to be a useless answer in an attempt to create humour.

"Should I get the black hat or the brown hat?"
"Yes."
"Thanks for the help, [profanity deleted]."

"Exactly. People are replying "yes" to these questions simply to be edgy. They're not replying to indicate that both options are true, because it doesn't even make sense in many cases, including OP's example."

**
9. helium_farts, 2014
"Also known as a mathematician's answer. Basically it refers to an answer that is correct (in this case the hat can be both red and blue) but also completely useless.

Definitely older than reddit and possibly older than the internet."

"There's multiple reasons why people do it. Some just don't want to answer, some mean either/both, etc."

It’s not a yes or no question but responding “yes” is basically saying “all of them”.

A better execution would be:

“Would you like to use a whole bunch of gay slang, or just the gay aesthetic?”

“Yes”."
