And as usual, the latest is an absolute fever dream song that’s come from nowhere and has creators and FYP scrollers in a vice grip chokehold. Everyone can’t stop singing and dancing along, bellowing out either “my name is Chicky”, “my name is Cha Cha”, “My name is Boom Boom” or “My name is Lya-Lya”. But where the hell did this song come from? Is it a real banger? Here’s where the viral TikTok “My name is Chicky” song is from originally and who sings it.
It’s a children’s song by a Russian group called D Billions
Okay, so the song is actually called My Name Is and is a children’s song by a band called D Billions – think Baby Shark vibes, but only slightly less annoying. The group hail from Moscow in Russia, and started their channel in 2019. Their biggest video is one called Shake Shake Your Body Clap Clap Cha Cha Cha, which only stars our king Cha Cha. Latinx embrace representation shown in Disney’s 'Encanto'
Amalia Medina, January 20, 2022 "Disney’s latest animated feature film, “Encanto,” was
released in theaters on Nov. 24, 2021, and it came to Disney+ on Dec. 24, 2021,
yet the hype around the film has not subdued yet, despite it being mid-January.
And there’s a reason why.
The movie tells the story of the Madrigal family as they
navigate their special powers, such as incredible hearing, shape-shifting and
talking to animals. As the movie unfolds, the family is forced to navigate
their relationships with each other and mend their broken bonds. The familial
theme can relate to any family, but it is especially resonating with Latinx,
particularly Colombians, as the movie is set in Colombia.
The Madrigals are a mestiza, or mixed-race, Colombian
family. Each family member has different skin tones, hair types and features,
and one branch of the family is Afro-Latino, a group that is even more
underrepresented in media than non-Black Latinos.
Colombians and Latinx alike are feeling represented like
never before. Across the internet, people are sharing how they feel
represented: embracing their noses, curls and skin tones.
“I literally look like (Isabela Madrigal),” one Twitter user
said. “I’m gonna watch ‘Encanto’ for the actual representation that my
childhood self did not have.” ”…
Encanto is a gorgeous ode to Latinos that shines with color
and prowess
By Amanda Giampaglia, December 6, 2021
“Encanto” is Disney’s latest — and 60th — animated feature,
and I was nothing short of amazed at the artistry in this new film.
[…]
This story is told by a cast of Latino actors, and the
amount of respect for the Latino culture is felt throughout the entire film..
[…]
The characters in this film represent the diverse skin
colors that range from light to dark and hair textures from straight to kinky
curls that can be found within the Latino community. This brings in a more
accurate representation of a group of people who have not been given the
representation that they so deserve.”….
JANUARY 3, 2022 Encanto Review: The Movie That Reminds Us That Latinos Come
in All Shades of Brown! "ENCANTO REVIEW In “Encanto”, a Latino family in Colombia acquire magical
powers after surviving a traumatic experience. All the members of the family have powers in the casita (house) except
Mirabel, who longs for powers like her siblings who can manipulate the weather
or plants. When the casita starts to
show cracks, Mirabel goes on an adventure to save their family home despite
naysayers like her Abuela (grandmother) who think that Mirabel is being
eccentric like her son Bruno, a long lost family member. The characters all have different shades of brown much like
Colombia itself. It’s not just the brown
skin tones but the variety of different hair textures and nose shapes that
makes this film diverse, in fact many children will be able to spot characters
like themselves in the movie.Mirabel,
Bruno, Luisa, Antonio, and Isabella all have different skin tones but still are
members of the same family and in some cases they are blood siblings. This
movie reminds us that the characters in “Encanto” ARE what Latinos look like.
The movie shows that a family can represent every color and it makes sense
since Latin American countries have Black and Indigenous people too.”…
Encanto has shown us that every skin tone is beautiful
Huda A.Ghaffar, Jan 24, 2022 "Back in the day when brown skin tones were considered as
just “one tone” kinda thing in animations including Disney, thinking about
seeing different skin tones representation on-screen was just too far-fetched.
If they did show different tones, it was generally slightly darker for men than
women.
It's not just animations, but media, in general, that makes
us think that a light skin tone reflects beauty. This stereotype especially
among Latino, African and South Asian women was and still have been heavily
marketed and pushed by our cosmetic industry and media houses.
[…]
Seeing Afro-Latino representation in Disney’s Encanto was
such a joyful experience for me. Although being a South Asian, I can’t relate
to their struggles, all I know is that representation matters. Unlike previous
Disney movies, where all had people of color had almost the same skin tone, the
Madrigals, like an actual real family, had people with diverse skin tones and
textures. And every single one of them was portrayed beautifully. The cutest
character in the family without any doubt is Antonio. But one thing that stands
out the most to me is the beauty of Isabela Madrigal. I love how Isabela, who
has a darker skin tone than her sisters, is considered to be the most graceful
girl in town. They did not make her light-skinned to reflect how beautiful she is.
I hope movies like Encanto will show our little girls that they are beautiful
just the way they are.
Enca[n]to, without any doubt, is one of the finest movies
Disney has ever produced. The graphics, the animations, the music and
choreography, the characters’ arc, and the portrayal of feminine beauty in all
shapes, sizes, hair and skin tones are simply astounding. …The real credit goes
to the creators and animators who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes and
fought for bringing this beautiful diversity on screen. They are the ones who
should be celebrated."...
“My Own Drum” (Remix) Music & Lyric Video ft. Missy Elliott | Vivo | Netflix Futures
Netflex Futures, July 30, 2021
-snip- Here's a summary from another video of this song that is no longer available:
"Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the song. Missy Elliott remixed it. Ynairaly Simo makes us want to sing along.
The film features all-new original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, a score by Alex Lacamoire, and a screenplay by Quiara Alegría Hudes and director Kirk DeMicco (The Croods). Vivo is co-directed by Brandon Jeffords (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2) and voiced by Zoe Saldaña as an overprotective mother, newcomer Ynairaly Simo as her rebellious daughter Gabi, Michael Rooker as a villainous Everglades python, Katie Lowes, Olivia Trujillo & Lidya Jewett as a trio of well-meaning but overzealous scout troopers, Brian Tyree Henry & Nicole Byer as a pair of star-crossed spoonbills, and Leslie David Baker as a Florida bus driver.
VIVO is an exhilarating story about gathering your courage, finding family in unlikely friends, and the belief that music can open you to new worlds.

Bright Future Ahead" By Pretty Honore, Aug 6, 2021 "Six years after the release of the hit Broadway musical
Hamilton, Netflix premiered Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first animated film, Vivo.
Since Vivo was released on Netflix on August 6, the film has received mixed
reviews. But everyone can agree that the cast members give a stellar
performance, including 13-year-old breakout star Ynairaly Simo, who plays Gabi.
In the animated musical drama, Lin-Manuel stars as a beloved
kinkajou named Vivo but his somewhat misguided sidekick, Gabi, manages to steal
the show. Since the film’s premiere, fans are dying to know more about the
talented young actress. Here’s what we know about Vivo’s Ynairaly Simo.
13-year-old Ynairaly Simo stars as Gabi in ‘Vivo’.

While this cast is also full of stars in both the acting and
musical world, we have a newcomer here as well. Gabi, the lovable partner to
Vivo throughout the entirety of Vivo, is played by Ynairaly Simo, a young
actress who’s just starting to make her mark.
While she did have a small role in a TV series titled
Creative Galaxy back in 2014 where she played herself, this is her first major
role in the Hollywood world. And hopefully, after playing Gabi in Vivo, we’ll
be seeing a lot more of her soon." -snip- Click https://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/film/reviews/article-lin-manuel-miranda-brings-musical-stylings-to-netflix-animated-film/to read the August 5, 2021 article entitled "Lin-Manuel Miranda brings musical stylings to Netflix
