At the one-and-only California Senate debate on Wednesday night, Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Ca.) did the dab ― a pose popularized by Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

After ignoring the moderator’s repeated attempts to wrap up her closing remarks, the nine-term congresswoman finally stopped and struck the pose, which morphed from its hip-hop roots to an internet dance craze now most frequently associated with the Panthers player.

The move even gave the congresswoman’s opponent, California Attorney General Kamala Harris (D), a start. According to the Los Angeles Times, Harris “bit her lip and looked to the audience, eyes wide,” before delivering some grade-A shade.

“So, there’s a clear difference between the candidates in this race,” Harris said....

A spokesperson of Sanchez campaign indicated that the dab showed that Sanchez has the support of millennials (young adults). However, the article indicated that before this debate Kamela Harris had a 15 point lead against Loretta Sanchez.

Dance style
Les Twins’ dance style is often categorized as hip-hop new style, a commercial form of hip hop with a strong emphasis on isolations and musicality.[40] However, the twins are known for having created a unique style from this dance which they refer to as "Twins-Style".[41] Due to their ability to anticipate and finish each other’s moves,[42] the brothers quickly gained a reputation for their timing and skill at making freestyle dance look like choreography.[4] Charlotte Guillemin of WAD Magazine wrote:[9]

They have really created a form of hip-hop that is truly individual to them...They are in perfect symbiosis. They look totally disjointed with their very jerky movements, although at the same time displaying an amazing fluidity.
