This pancocojams post showcases several examples of and information about Stomp and Shake "entrance cheers" (vertical line formation cheers)*.
Entrance cheers are a new cheer formation that is used by middle school and high school Stomp and Shake cheerleading squads. The purpose of these cheers is to hype up their school's basketball players right before their competitive basketball game by introducing those players as a group to the crowd attending that game.

Thanks to the unknown composer/s of this cheer and thanks to all those who are featured in these showcase video shorts. Thanks also to@SAGINAWDANCESHOW, the publishers of these showcases videos that are showcased in this pancocojams post.

@SAGINAWDANCESHOW is the screen name for an individual who is located in Saginaw, Michigan. In spite of this screen name, all of the videos that have been published by SAGINAWDANCESHOW that I have come across are of middle school and high school cheerleading performances and not of performance activities that are categorized as "dance". Furthermore, these videos showcases Stomp and Shake cheerleading squads from various cities in the United States, and not just from Saginaw, Michigan.

Click https://pancocojams.blogspot.com/2023/06/no-smoke-you-dont-want-no-smoke.html for a pancocojams post of the related stomp and shake cheerleader cheers. That post is entitled " "No Smoke" / "You Don't Want No Smoke" (children's & teens Stomp & Shake cheer with words, information, & comments)" These examples aren't performed as entrance cheers.
Based on the publishing dates for online examples of "No Smoke" and "You Don't Want No Smoke" cheers, these cheers were created before the "Who Want The Smoke" cheers and undoubtedly inspired that cheer.

WHAT DOES "WANTING SMOKE" MEAN IN THE CONTEXT OF THIS STOMP AND SHAKE CHEER?
In the context of the stomp and shake cheerleading cheers "No Smoke", "You Don't Want No Smoke", and "Who Want The Smoke", the words "wanting smoke" mean wanting to challenge the fire (energy, power, skill) of their opponent's basketball team.
Visit the June 2023 "No Smoke" pancocojams post for more information and comments about the African American Vernacular English meaning of "smoke" (in the context of these stomp and shake cheers).

PANCOCOJAMS EDITOR NOTES ABOUT 'WHO WANT THE SMOKE" CHEER
An entrance cheer is chanted by cheerleaders while their basketball team enters the gym before the beginning of a basketball competitive game. The custom of cheerleaders chanting and performing cheer routines is unique to Stomp and Shake cheerleading. This custom was undoubtedly inspired by the spirit tunnels that mainstream cheerleaders have for their football or basketball teams. Click https://pancocojams.blogspot.com/2025/01/my-guess-about-why-jennifer-hudson.html "Some Differences Between The Mainstream United States "Spirit Tunnels" And The Jennifer Hudson Show's "Spirit Tunnels" for a description of "spirit tunnels" for athletic teams.
"Who Want The Smoke" is a stomp and shake entrance cheer that is performed as entrance cheer by some (mostly African American) middle school (junior high schools) and high school cheerleading squads.
Based on the publishing dates for online examples of the stomp and shake bleacher cheers and the stomp and shake sideline cheers "No Smoke", "You Don't Want No Smoke", those cheers existed before "Who Want The Smoke" entrance cheers.
"Who Want The Smoke" appears to be the earliest example of stomp and shake entrance cheers that I've come across online. Most TikTok and YouTube video shorts of "Who Want The Smoke" that I have found to date (January 2025) were published in mid December 2024. The earliest date that I have come across for these videos is mid November. I don't know the name of the original cheerleading squad to perform this cheer nor do I have a link to the "original" video of a performance of the "Who Want The Smoke" entrance cheer.
Two other early examples of stomp and shake entrance cheers are "Let 'em Out, Coach" and "Bring Them Out, Coach" (also given as "Bring 'Em Out".) Judging by the number of videos online and given some of the discussion thread comments, each of these cheers are widely performed by middle school and high school stomp and shake cheerleading squads.

HOW STOMP AND SHAKE ENTRANCE CHEERS ARE PERFORMED
All stomp and shake entrance cheers have the same performance formation and activities:
1. The cheerleaders stand in one vertical line facing forward perform a hand clap and foot stomping routine. The same hand clapping and foot stomping routine continues without stopping throughout this entire cheer.
2. The cheerleaders continue chanting. The first time the cheerleaders say "Let's get it", at the same time, alternating members of the cheerleading squad slides to the right or to the left while still facing forward. This forms two separate vertical lines with a wide space in the middle. The same number of people should be on the right side and on the left side.
3.In most entrance style videos of "Who Want The Smoke" that I've watched, the basketball players immediately enter the gym by running in the middle row that is created between the two rows of cheerleaders. Usually the basketball players who run in single file into the gym aren't dribbling or holding a basketball. However, in some videos, some or all of the basketball players are either dribbling or holding a basketball. In a few entrance cheer videos, the coaches walk down that center row behind the last basketball player. The cheerleaders continue chanting until the last basketball player arrives (or the coaches arrive) at the end of the row of cheerleaders (i.e. where the first cheerleader in each row is standing).
In different examples of this cheer, at the end of this cheer, the cheerleaders may remain in two rows or the two rows may merge back together into one row.

LYRICS- WHO WANT THE SMOKE
[All cheerleaders]
Who want the smoke
Just let them know
Who want the smoke
What’s up
Let's get it.
[Repeat cheer until all of the basketball players run out onto the court]

In some videos, one member of the cheerleading team "calls" the cheer by chanting "Who want the smoke". After the cheer is called, all the cheerleaders including the caller, chant the entire cheer.
