"By now I'm sure you know about the disastrous Donald Trump Madison Square Garden Nazi rally that he held.
The Meidas Touch Network broke all of those stories, by the way. We were the ones who clipped through [the video of that rally to find pertinent moments that occurred]. Our digital editor Asen [found] the clip of Tony Hinchcliffe, one of the speakers, referring to Puerto Rico as "a garbage can of the world" and making other horrific and racist comments that Donald Trump and others embraced at this hate rally.“…

..."All right, um, but I do want to really make it plain that the backlash against this event has been instantaneous and extreme and is likely to have a dramatic impact on the election. So let's just go
through a couple of the things that have happened since last night. A and I I don't I want to do my best here to not repeat the insanely racist and xenophobic things that were said last night.
Um, I do want to point out that one of of the speakers at the event made some -I don't even know I don't think I have the adjectives to describe it -just absolutely disgusting comments about Puerto Rico and Latino people. Um and the...it could change the voting blocks in this election on which Trump was trying to rely.
One of the things that we have discussed here on the broadcast and that [Trump has been] playing to a Latino male base in the hopes of drumming up conservative Latino votes in favor of his election. Um, and I know for many of us there have been [statements about] who's who's a an appropriate immigrant to the United States and who isn't and whether or not a human being's value depends on how they came to the United States.
[....]
Within an hour of of those comments at this rally, um, Geraldo, no less Geraldo Rivera, right, who I will point out endorsed Kamala Harris two weeks ago, but nonetheless is a longtime Fox News commentator, obviously Latino American himself [posted a response online]. I was actually shocked by the language that he used in in attacking and responding, justifiably so of course, to the remarks at this particular rally. Essentially, um, he -I mean- he dropped a straight F-bomb on Twitter about it and encouraged Latino men to, um, act from a place of self-respect and refuse to vote for Trump. Um, that ,in and of itself, is was an extraordinary statement from a noted conservative Latino figure.
All right, then on top of it, we had celebrities like Bad Bunny[who has] 45 something million followers on Instagram posting in favor of Kamala Harris and against Donald Trump. Literally, I think it was within like 25 minutes of the statements that happened at Madison Square Garden [that] J. Lo, Ricky Martin, [two] very prominent Latino celebrities, coming out and just slamming what happened last night.
And I have to say that, you know, to me the impact that that [this] is likely to have on on people who, uh, who maybe were not invested or who maybe were thinking of leaning Trump inside that demographic- I think that story has largely- [I] can't ever say 100%, but largely come to an end as a result of what happened last night on top of that.
We [also] had some incredibly vitriolic disgusting anti-black racist tropes given voice too last night at this rally. And, again, I have to point out that there's been a long discussion inside the various demographics and voting blocks and commentators over the last couple of weeks about why there appeared to be a slight swing from bl.. by black men to Trump.
[...]
Whatever it was that folks were concerned about with regard to Black men in very small percentages migrating in favor of trump I think that story is also coming to an end.
Um, we saw just again insane anti-Semitism last night, absolutely malignant xenophobia. Um and you know, of course, targeting, as always, of LGBTQ+ Americans.
Again, I just, I have to say that I think this entire event is going to backfire dramatically on the very
limited marginalized communities that Trump was trying to drum up court within. I I think that story is over"...

"Well, I want to say thank you to the speakers last night for
opening their big mouths and saying the quiet part out loud on a big stage
where everyone could hear you. There is no doubt what they plan to do and no
mistake. On another note, there are
still concerns that some states will refuse to certify the election. That
suggests that Harris/Walz will win those states because why else refuse to
certify. I'm not an expert but doesn't that mean that on Jan 6, those states
will have no electors? I guess some of the remaining magas in congress can
challenge the certifications but they won't be able to change the results. I
think the bigger danger will be the obvious (and not so obvious) tampering with
voter registrations and ballots. We know that state governments are on high
alert and are stopping these efforts. They may try to suggest that fraud is
rampant but evidence shows that they are committing the fraud. It's not long
now. Keep breathing. Keep focused. Lead with your heart and allow yourself to
feel in advance the joy that will follow electing Madam President."

"I am a 66 yr old Puertorican (now living in the US) and I
must say it has been a hard day for me after watching the initial videos of
this rally. I love my island and I love the US. Though not a state, we are US
citizens from birth. My father served as part of the 65th Infantry Div during
the Korean war, my oldest brother served with the Air Force 3 tours during
Vietnam, 2 other brothers retired from the Army (including 1 in Special
Forces). About 236,000 Puerto Ricans registered for the draft for World War I,
and many have given their lives for this country through all these wars. On the other hand, Trump's grandfather dodged
the military service in Germany and fled to the US as an emigrant. Trump's
father Fred was a racist that discriminated against many blacks and
Puertoricans in NY. Then
("bone-spurs") Trump dodged the military service in the US. That so
called "comedian" along with Trump are 2 pieces HIT. The Trump family has not done anything for
this country, and he has been feeding BULLSH-T* to all the republicans. Though
we grew up poor, yet, I put my family up against the Trump's anytime when it
comes to honor and decency, along with caring for others. I am still fuming
over these racist, fascists ....POS."

..."before Trump spoke, the event made headlines for a series of racist jokes by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. He called Puerto Rico an “island of garbage” and disparaged Black Americans, Latinos and Jewish people. Democrats and at least two Florida Republicans, including Sen. Rick Scott, swiftly condemned Hinchcliffe’s remarks about Puerto Rico.
“This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign,” Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign said in a statement after the rally addressing the comedian’s comment about Puerto Rico.

from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EuDrHn1rnw "Trump's Racist Madison Square Garden Might Have Killed His Campaign", Farron Balanced, October 29, 2024
Summary statement:
"Donald Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday has been ripped as one of the most racist campaign events we've ever seen in modern history (in the United States, at least.) Between comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage, Tucker Carlson attacking Kamala Harris's ethnicity, and Steven Miller proudly declaring that America is for Americans only, the whole event was more of a Klan rally than a political event. And that's doesn't even begin to cover the rest of the insanity from Sunday, as Farron Cousins explains."

Sunny Hostin, a female Puerto Rican attorney, journalist, and host of the nationally syndicated television talk show The View gave a powerful, succinct comment on that show a day after Trump's Madison Square Garden political rally.
ReplyDeleteI believe her comment would make a great monologue.
That comment is given in Source #5 of this October 28, 2024 pancocojams post.
Can you guess why Sonny Hostin gave statistics for the number of Puerto Ricans living in those particular states rather than in other states in this country?

Here's another video in which a Puerto Rican radio talk show host from Pennsylvania who has more than 200,000 listeners in that state shared what his listeners are saying about the racist insult to Puerto Ricans that was given at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally:

"What did you think of Trump saying that he didn't hear the comments and doesn't know the comedian? What did you make of the response?
Radio host: Victor Martinez
"It definitely [is] a missed opportunity. One of the things that I heard the most this morning from my audience and, and we broadcast our morning show through five radio stations in the state.
So we have about 250,000 Latinos that listen to us in the state of Pennsylvania. I specifically asked the audience, okay, “What about if Trump today all of a sudden decides to apologize, all of a sudden decides to distance himself from the comedian? Would that be okay? Would you take that into consideration?”
Overwhelmingly, everybody was like, “Nope, too late. The train has left the stage. And he could have done it Sunday night, Monday, even this morning. And for him now to say, “I don't know the comedian. I didn't even hear the joke.” I'm pretty sure by now he heard the joke. I'm pretty sure by now he could have personally said something to the Puerto Rican community.
One of the things that have impacted more [of] my audience, is the fact that he's from New York. He's a New Yorker.
So a lot of people here in the Lehigh Valley are from New York. And what I heard from my audience was “Wait a minute.
He's from New York. He knows us.
The Puerto Rican parade goes right in front of his building every year. Why would he allow somebody in New York City- a place with such a rich Puerto Rican history, with over a million Puerto Ricans-.why would he allow someone in New York City to say something like that about Puerto Ricans?"

"Trump's campaign said that the former president's event in New York City on Sunday filled Madison Square Garden to capacity. The venue can fit a maximum of 19,500 people.
Sunday's event was marred by racist remarks hurled about Latinos, Black people, Jews and Palestinians. Sexist comments were also made about Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by several speakers.
Trump's campaign has spoken out against one comment, made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who said during his speech that Puerto Rico is a "floating island of garbage." The former president's team said that the "joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign." Trump told ABC News' Rachel Scott when asked about the joke on Tuesday, "I don't know him. Someone put him up there. I don't know who he is."
The former president also failed to condemn other statements made at Madison Square Garden during a speech at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday, saying instead, "There's never been an event so beautiful."
"The love in that room was breathtaking," he added. "It was like a lovefest, an absolute lovefest. And it was my honor to be involved."

Kierra Frazier, 10/29/2024, 10:46pm ET
"Donald Trump is downplaying any controversy regarding his Madison Square Garden rally that contained racist rhetoric from one of its speakers.
During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump claimed no one from his campaign vetted the comedian who told the inflammatory jokes. He also said was unsure if the comments were a big deal or not.
“Somebody said some bad things. Now, what they've done is taken somebody that has nothing to do with the party, has nothing to do with us, said something and they try to make a big deal,” Trump said. “I can’t imagine it’s a big deal.”
The inflammatory comments were made on Sunday by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of hot garbage”"...
