This post on Charles Jenkins & The Fellowship Chicago is part of an ongoing pancocojams series that showcases African American performing artists whose last names are included on the United States Census (2010) list of most common Black American surnames.
For the purpose of this series, I'm usually limiting these posts to African American performing artists with a last name that is listed as one of the top 100 most common Black surnames in the United States.
For example, the United States Census (2010) documents that "Jenkins" is the #44th most common surname (last name) among Black people in the United States.

LYRICS - WAR
Might as well put your hands together
Put 'em together, come on
Put 'em together
[Verse 1]
I got joy in my soul
God is in control
I got Satan on my trail
But I'm singin' all is well
He's attackin' everyday
But I'm watchin' while I pray
[Pre-Chorus]
No matter the attack
I won't turn back
[Chorus]
'Cause this means war
(This means) This means war
(This means) This means war
(This means) This means war
Put 'em together
[Verse 2]
I got joy in my soul
God is in control
I got Satan on my trail
But I'm singin' all is well
He's attackin' everyday
But I'm watchin' while I pray
No matter the attack
I won't turn back
[Chorus]
'Cause this means war
(This means) This means war
(This means) This means war
(This means) This mеans war
I plead the blood
[Bridge]
I plead, I plеad the blood (There's power in the blood)
I plead, I plead the blood (Healin' in the blood)
I plead, I plead the blood (Power in the blood)
I plead, I plead the blood
[Verse 3]
I've been in the storm and the rain
But the blood still stays the same
Whatever's goin' wrong
My war clothes are on
I might be in a daze
But you can't have my praise
[Pre-Chorus]
No matter the attack!
I won't turn back

Notice the last line of this Gospel song "I won't turn back" is very similar to Vice President and Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris' campaign slogan "We won't go back".
