INFORMATION ABOUT KENDRICK LAMAR'S HIP HOP TRACK "NOT LIKE US"
from
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Not_Like_Us
" "Not Like Us" is a diss track written and recorded by American rapper Kendrick Lamar. It was released on May 4, 2024, via Interscope Records, amidst his feud with the Canadian rapper Drake. It is Lamar's fifth and most recent installment in his series of diss tracks directed at Drake; it premiered less than 14 hours after his previous single, "Meet the Grahams".

...American rapper Kendrick Lamar and Canadian rapper Drake have been engaged in a rap feud since August 2013...

Lamar also takes several opportunities to challenge Drake's cultural identity. The chorus of "Not Like Us" has alluded to him stating that "rap practitioners" such as Drake are unlike his caliber, "one that organically abides by the given morals of Black culture."[22] [Lamar] also accuse him of exploiting Black artists from Atlanta for street credibility and financial gain.[5] He uses his previous collaborations with Future, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Young Thug, Quavo and 2 Chainz as examples of him forming "calculated strategies" over "authentic connections"—actions Lamar considers to be a form of colonization.[10][23]"...

"Kendrick bringing aunties together through a Drake diss " -snip-

In contemporary African American Vernacular English (AAVE),the term "aunties" is a neutral referent for a middle aged Black women (around 40 or 50 years of age). The equivalent AAVE referent for a middle age Black man is "unc"...

Btw, all African American line dancers aren't female.

The word "brip" is an example of a person who is a member of the Blood gang purposely refusing to spell or pronounce words that begin with the letter "c" (especially the word "Crip") because they don't want to give any recognition to the Crip (gang). This was depicted on Issa Rae's television comedy-drama series Insecure

  1. The video that is showcased in this pancocojams post isn't the only line dance for "Not Like Us" that has been posted on YouTube.

Here's a link to another "Not Like Us" line dance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPeGE_yRJyY "Not Like Us Line Dance, Aug 1, 2024 MICHELLE AND BARACK OBAMA SPORT COMPLEX

  2. The comment that is given as #71 in this pancocojams post refers to "Turtle Island". "Turtle Island" is a name of Earth or North America, used by some American Indigenous peoples."
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_Island

People who identify as American Descendants of Slaves (ADOS) and/or as Foundational Black Americans (FBA) also use the term "Turtle Island" as a referent for the United States and other parts of North America.

According to FBAs, the only "real" Black Americans are those who can trace their ancestry to at least one Black person who was enslaved in the United States.

One commenter in a discussion thread for a podcast hosted by a Black American wrote that Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" track was FBA's anthem .Unfortunately, I didn't save the link to that comment.

By no means am I saying or implying that Kendrick Lamar has these positions. However, it's clear that his "Not Like Us" track is being openly or in coded fashion being used as a reference to FBA's position about what they call "lineage Black Americans" and immigrant Black Americans.

    Replies
    1. According to FBA, "they [Black Americans who are immigrants or whose ancestors are immigrants from the Caribbean, Africa, and elsewhere] aren't like us".

When you watch certain Black political YouTube podcasts or read some comments from Black Americans on those podcasts and on certain other Black political YouTube podcasts that people who identify as FBA are either supporting Trump or supporting "voting the couch" (not voting). Their comments indicate or suggest that they don't support Kamala Harris because she's "not like us" (i.e. her ancestry is from the Caribbean and India). In the same way, FBAs didn't support Barack Obama because he didn't have any ancestors who were enslaved in the USA.

I definitely believe that this has been and is still part of Trump's/Republican's divide and conquer strategy to weaken Black American unity and lessen the number of Black Democratic votes.

Full disclosure, FBAs would consider me to be ineligible for that identity because my maternal grandparents were from the Caribbean and I don't know what ancestry my light skinned Black father was because he was adopted by a Black couple in Michigan.

      Delete
    2. The Harris/Walz Democratic campaign's celebration of the inclusion and diversity of the Unity States is the exact opposite of the FBA (Foundational Black Americans' (FBA)'s lineage Americans/"Not Like Us" concepts.

      Delete
    3. Here's a statement that Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin made on her podcast today in reference to the diversity of the attendees at the 2024 Democratic National Convention:
"It's the space of the love of each other the multi-racial
intersectional representative democracy that is the Democratic Party and love across and between every difference it is a representation of love of country"
