"THEE legendary Tammy was the first female and also female head drum major for JSU around 2003. There were about 3 total, that actually made J5, but only 2 marched, the last being 2017."

"The Southern University drum major is the best. He does it with controlled class which is smooth. The whole band is class. None of the bumping and grinding mess which doesn’t look nice. You have to realize some people expect black people to do that as if that’s the only thing they have on their mind. The dignified thing to do is be different show class and character. That’s what makes a great band. Not a minstrel band."

Morris Brown University (in Atlanta Georgia, had closed for a period of time but has now re-opened and regained its accreditation .

The filming [for the movie Drumline] was done at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta and at Morris Brown Band members from Morris Brown University played in the 2002 movie Drumline. The performers (aside from those from Morris Brown) were recruited from high school and university bands all over the Atlanta and Metro Atlanta area"
