Just who exactly are the Greeks and what is their genetic makeup? Today we will be discussing a brief history and genetics of the Greek people, one of the most influential groups of people, not only in the West, but nearly the entire world.

Be sure to let me know your thoughts on the history and genetics of the Greeks, without whom, our entire history and culture as we know it would look drastically different. Thanks for watching! Honestly, I did not think the video title was so controversial. Just trying to answer a commonly asked question!

"@s66s46  Not at all, Sicily is full of Greek colonies, all cities in Sicily are established by Greeks, in fact you may find more Greeks in Sicily than some parts of Athens. Sicilians are Greeks indeed. Unless you are talking about illegal immigrants"

"@manitheman0806  I mean that they can look more brown, if you know what I mean. Of course it doesnt make them non caucasian because race is more than just skin colour, they still have the same skull type. But some italians I have seen (mostly Sicily people) look more like northern africans and then more brown than most europeans"

"@s66s46  I've been to Sicily plenty of times.....They're could be some that may resemble North Africans but then again, what does a North African look like?  If you like European football, Zidane and Benzam are Algerians.....They can pass for French, Italian, and probably Spanish....Morocans look a  little different than Tunisian and Egyptians look a little bit different that Lybians...North Africa has been inhablited for thousands of years going back to the Phonicians and The Greco/Roman period of ancient Egypt...What conclusions can we come up??  Too many!!!  Many of those Egpytians/Tunisians have Sothern European Ancersty ( check their DNA results).....Read David Abulafias' the Great Sea and then you'll have good idea where i'm coming from...ALso, check out the Posting on the Sea People...To complicated to discuss....I've seen Sicilians with Hindu/Persian surnames.....Just my thoughts"

" @s66s46  Lets also reflect on the Arberesh communities in Sicily, the Spanish/French Domination of Sicily and the explusion of the Arabs by the French Normans......Many of the towns were repoppulated with Northern Italians from Genoa, Pisa, etc....

" @s66s46  Absolutley.....then again, are you taking about which Southern Europeans....Europe is a big place....The Normans, Lombards, Visigoths, Celts etc.. made there way and conqured Sothern Europe....We all come from the Caucuses and mixed with them........Southern Europeans are  a little bit more mixed than their Northern counterpars...Greece, North Africa. Bzantium, Otttmans etc...."

"You guys should not forget the Macedonian Greek empire that led many Greeks to establish in several place of the Middle East.

Most traditions and behaviours of Arabs come from Ancient Greece. It’s only logical that they have a big percentage of Greek Mediterranean dna.

Moreover, Greeks today are descendants of ancient Greeks. There is no doubt about it after so many studies and this is something remarkable.

The simple explanation is that nobody ever migrated Greece, while the Greeks went all over the area. It’s sick how many cities they made so far from Greece.

Except the DNA, racially Greeks today are the same as ancient Greeks. So with the right education they could again create as they did back then."
