Watusi" (The Orlons,1962) and "The Jerk" (The Larks,1964)
changed the rhythn pattern 8/8 to a basis 4/4 , that is used till.... NOW"

"3:38 one of the greatest musicians, songwriters, singers of
all time in any music genre - Marvin
Gaye . His "what's going on / Mercy
Mercy Me (the ecology ) " is as timeless , beautiful and profound as lets
say for example Schubert's Ave Maria written in circa 1800" .

indicates that "The Bump and Grind became popular between the 1940s to the
1950s."
-end of quote-
I remember the Bump and Grind dance/s from the early to mid 1960s, but I was a good girl so I didn't do those dances.
And yes, people are still doing the bump and the grind (as documented in a number of YouTube videos) .

"@INJURYCOMP Billy
Preston met Sis Rosetta Thorpe who had met Lil Richard earlier singing in local
churches, in succession Sis RT took Lil Richard on tour with her to Britian
when LR was in his late teens, LR had been washing dishes in a greasy spoon
restaurant, where LR learned to play rockin guitar, the phrase rock &roll
hadn't yet been coined. A few years later when LR charted some hits with his on
band he met Billy Preston 15yrs old at the time snd went with LR touring in
Britian. Google up Sister Rosetta Thorpe,
she was the first female metal guitarist, literally electric made out of
metal guitarist, mind you R&R hadn't been coined yet.

"The Orlons popularized the wah watusi!
I realize this video is some dance moves of the 60s but
really.. No Hully gully?
Furthermore, I understand why the Elvis segment. All the

"I grew up doing all these dances. My mother showed me the
"camel walk". I was expecting
the dancers to hold their nose, act as if they were going under water doing the
"Swim". That is what we use to do.
The Boogaloo and the Jerk were my favorite. I don't remember seeing them do the
"Pony". I went on Miami, FL
Rick Shaw show dancing. I loved it,
wanted to be a dancer, then got hit by a car... My parents didn't mind it too
much. Good exercise for sure. The neighborhood kids would get together and
dance everywhere we could. Great times."

"Those dances were fun, excellent workouts and you could
dance by yourself so no necessarily be accompanied. One thing though, at the
end of the party when the slow dances were playing, it was hard to accept the
invitations of the guys who sweat like pigs because they dance all night long
the ‘Twist’, the ‘Watusi’, the ‘Jerk’, the ‘Mashed Potatoes’ etc.😳🥵🙄"

"Not one other dance creation was more popular than the
Twist! It's the superstar of dance moves of the 1960s.
I was 7 years old in 1960 and dancing with blond bombshells that were at least an old lady of 21! LOL!
Originally performed by Hank Ballard And The Midnighters. A great version too!
More tunes were written about the Twist than any other dance.
This is from the personal collection I own.
Percolator (Twist) -
Billy Joe and the Checkmates
Twist And Shout - The Isley Brothers / The Beatles / Peter
Green's Fleetwood Mac
Frankenstein Twist - The Crystals
Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Rock `n' Roll) - Elton
John
Peppermint Twist - Joey Dee and The Starliters
Twistarella - Les
Flash
Twist All Night - Louis Prima
Twistin' the Night Away - Sam Cooke / Rod Stewert
Twistin' Bells - Santo & Johnny
Soul Twist - King Curtis & The Noble Knights
Whole Lotta Twistin' Goin' On - Jerry Lee Lewis
