A large number of commenters in this discussion thread "signed in" [gave their nation's name and/or city] in Spanish. The largest number of commenters writing in Spanish in this discussion thread are from Colombia and Panama.
A lot of "nation signing in" comments were also posted by Africans (particularly from the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya) and a number of those types of "roll call" nation comments were posted by people from various nations in the Caribbean, including a sizable number posted by people from the Dominican Republic.* There were also some comments from the United States, a few comments from Australia, a few from Asia (India), and a few comments from Europe- including on from Belgium and one from Albania. However, I'm surprised that there were so few comments from people "reppin" the United Kingdom or France.
*A sub-thread of those comments resulted in comments from others expressing surprise that people from the Dominican Republic were identifying themselves with the Black African Diaspora because many people in Caribbean nation are (rightly or wrongly) known for downplaying their Black ancestry.

A few commenters in the discussion thread for Afro B's official music video of "Drogba" ("Joanna") wrote that "Hennessy brought me here". Some other commenters wrote that they found out about this song from watching a "light skinned girl" dance on instragram. And one person wrote that the dancer's name is "Hennessy Carolina".
ReplyDeletehttp://www.musicacristiana.fm/descargar-mp3/cardi-bs-sister-hennessy-carolina-dancing-to-afro-b-drogba-joanna-ft-wizkid identified Hennessy Carolina as singer Cardi B's sister. Unfortunately, the link to a YouTube ideo of that dancer that is found on that site didn't work.
This video might be the one that is referred to in those comments, or this is a video of another light skinned woman dancing to Afro B's "Drogba" ("Joanna") song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5ivW9hAUKI AfroNation™ Afro B Drogba Dance Cover

There's a lot of Spanish sub-threads in this sound file of Afro B's song "Drogba" ("Joanna") : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJqpJLrGvSA. Most of these are "nation signing in" comments - where commenters write the name of their nation and/or hometown as a way of "reppin" where they come from.
ReplyDeleteOn one of those sub-threads Divine Egharevba wrote in December 2018:
"Why does everyone hear speak spanish?π"
Here are five of the multiple responses to that question (with numbers added for referencing purposes only) :
tyra alexander, Feb. 2019

Another commenter writing in March 2010 was rather condescending to the commenter who asked this question, calling her (or him) "dumb". But that commenter made these astute points which explain why Afrobeats music has so many Spanish speaking fans:
..."Lot of Caribbean and central american countries like Panama honduras and costa rica and even belize love this type of music and have English roots."...
