spent no less than 6 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard 100 in 1969 and is the
bestselling Billboard 100 song of that year (and possibly globally too); an
incredible achievement considering music historians tend to point to 1969 as
being the pinnacle in rock and pop. The 5th Dimension were ahead of their time,
erased racial barriers with their unique blend of music genres dubbed
"champagne soul", and remain the finest vocal harmony - and finest-looking,
period! - group to this day.
5D had hit after hit between 1967-73; other standouts
include the 6 x Grammy winner Up-Up & Away (Aquarius would win them a
further two Grammys), Stoned Soul Picnic, Sweet Blindness, Wedding Bell Blues,
One Less Bell to Answer, If I Could Reach You, to name a few. I feel truly
blessed to be an Aquarian every time I hear this cosmic song, which
incidentally came together purely synchronistically when, it could be argued,
the universe ensured lead male singer Billy Davis Jr. would leave his wallet in
the back of a New York cab where the 5th Dimension were performing in the fall
of 1968...
And here we are now in The Age of Aquarius and soon to
ascend from the third to The Fifth Dimension!"

when I was a young boy, between the ages of 5-12 my dad would play this a lot
on his days off. This song must have been very big when he was my age and it
says a lot about the culture he was involved with in his mid 20s. I’m 25
now(born in ‘94), I haven’t heard this song in 13 years. After high school,
college, multiple jobs, and a lot of life, I randomly had a dream about my
father playing this song in the living room. Somehow my unconscious mind remembered
the lyrics even though my conscious mind has not even thought about this song
in over a decade. What a beautiful song, I now understand why he liked it so
much. I have been wondering a lot about who my dad was when he was my age, how
