Comments About Copying /Stealing Stomp & Shake Cheers: "You Make Us Go To Sleep" and "All Y' All Cheers Are Boring"

Edited by Azizi Powell

This is Part II of a two part pancocojams series about the stomp & shake cheerleading cheers "You Make Me Fall Asleep" and "All Y'all Cheers Are Boring".

That post presents selected representative comments from the discussion threads for the same YouTube video shorts of "You Make Me Go To Sleep" and "All Y' All Cheers Are Boring" that were showcased in Part I of this pancocojams series.

The Addendum to this post consists of four comments that I wrote about @SaginawDanceShow and added to the comment section of Part I of this pancocojams series.

Click https://pancocojams.blogspot.com/2026/05/similarities-and-differences-between.html for Part I of this pancocojams series. That pancocojams post showcases a YouTube video short of "You Make Us Go To Sleep" cheer and a YouTube video short of "All Y' All Cheers Are Boring" cheer.

The words for those cheers are included in this post along with information about and my description of the similarities and differences between those two basketball stomp & shake cheerleading cheers.

The content of this post is presented for historical, socio-cultural, and recreational purposes.

Thanks to the creators of these cheers. Thanks to all those who are featured in these videos and thanks to the publishers of this video on YouTube. Thanks also to all those who are quoted in this post.

PANCOCOJAMS EDITOR'S NOTE
These selected comments are representative of other comments in those discussion threads that negatively label a cheer as a "copy" and/or which state or imply that stomp & shake cheerleading teams shouldn't "copy" or "steal" another teams' cheers and/or other teams' routines for cheers as doing so demonstrates a lack of creativity and originality.

These types of comments are a continuation of the subject of stomp & shake cheerleader teams "copying" other teams' cheers and/or the routines for those cheers that I first first explored in this 2015 pancocojams post:
https://pancocojams.blogspot.com/2026/05/copying-or-stealing-other-cheerleading.html for the pancocojams post entitled "Copying" Or "Stealing" Cheers From Other Stomp & Shake Cheerleading Teams (complete reprint)".

As documented in that 2015 pancocojams post, it appears that the majority of commenters on this subject still have negative opinions about stomp & shake cheerleader teams "copying" . One reason that I have come across for this opinion is that "copying" a cheer (especially including copying another cheerleading team's routine for that cheer) is interpreted as the cheerleader team that copied not being creative or original.

It should be noted that commenters in the "All Y'All Cheers Are Boring" discussion thread  considered that cheer as being a copy of the "You Make Us Go To Sleep" cheer even though the words of those cheers aren't the same. The fact that the themes are the same and the ending motion of suddenly collapsing and pretending to be asleep were enough for those who negatively labeled that cheer as a copy.

This pancocojams post doesn't reflect the fact that although a large number of commenters labeled these cheers as copies, some of those commenters and many other commenters (especially in the discussion thread for the "All Y' All Cheers Are Boring" cheer praised the cheerleader teams' performance of that cheer, using African American contemporary complimentary phrases such as "They ate" and "They clocked it".

SELECTED COMMENTS FROM THE DISCUSSION THREAD FOR A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF "YOU MAKE US GO TO SLEEP" ["Panther's" Version]

published by @brittanymarie485 and @SaginawDanceShowcase, November 20, 2025
-snip-
Based on several comments in this video's discussion thread, this high school stomp & shake cheerleading team's name is "The Panthers" (A number of commenters in this discussion thread and in another video's discussion thread on this cheer referred to this cheerleader team as "The Tigers" because of their yellow and black uniforms. Some commenters also mistakenly referred to those high school cheerleaders as "The Lions".)

I don't know the name of the school and where that school is located.

Based on comments in Tik Tok videos and in other YouTube video shorts, this cheer and its routine were probably created by Sparkman High School (Alabama) in 2023.

This YouTube video is also included in the February 2025 pancocojams post entitled  "You Make Us Go To Sleep" Stomp & Shake Basketball Cheers (videos, words, and descriptions)

All of these comments were published in 2026.

ADDENDUM:

Here are three comments that I wrote about @SaginwaDanceShow that  I published in the comment section for Part I of this pancocojams series:

Here's some information that I've gleaned about @Saginaw DanceShow, the publisher of numerous YouTube video shorts of middle school (or younger) and high school African American girls' stomp & shake cheerleader cheers:

The YouTube video short of "You Make Us Go To Sleep Me" that is showcased in this pancocojams post cites two publishers-one with a feminine name and @SaginawDanceShow. That video has a box insert of a young or middle age African American man commenting while the video plays. My assumption is that man is @SaginawDance Show and that he is the one who usually writes replies to those video shorts' discussion thread comments.

@SaginawDanceShow sometimes collaborates with and co-publishes video shorts with a person who is more directly affiliated with the team * that is being featured in that particular YouTube video short.

*I've also come across YouTube video shorts that @SaginawDanceShow publishes (or co-published) of majorette dance teams (This African American originated group competitive style of dancing was popularized in the United States between 2014-2019 by the television series Bring It! and their children/teen dance team The Dancing Dolls".

  1. For some unspecified reason, @SaginawDanceShow is very reluctant to share any information about the teams that are showcased in the YouTube video shorts that he publishes. He also is reluctant to even share information about where he is located. (For instance, in one exchange that I read on one of the discussion threads for a video short that he co-published, someone asked if he was from Saginaw (a city in Michigan), and he replied that he travels to various cities and states.
In the discussion thread for the "All Y' All Cheers Are Boring", he was asked what school the cheerleaders were from. He answered "from more than one school". The same commenter then wrote "But what schools" and he replied with hearts or other emojis.

Sometimes a commenter will share the name of the showcased school or the showcased cheerleader team. In those cases that I've happened upon, @SaginawDanceShow will usually not confirm that identification.

  2. My guess is that @SaginawDanceShow is trying to preserve the identity of his showcased cheerleading teams (or majorette dance teams) because sharing that information may be problematic for those teams or for their schools.

However, as a community folklorist, I lament the opportunities that we don't have to document who and where these cheers and cheer routines were performed.

  3. In Part II of this pancocojams series focuses on comments about stomp & shake cheerleader teams copying cheers and cheer routines from other teams instead of creating their own cheers/routines. I selected some comments from the discussion thread for these two showcase videos and also included the replies that @SaginawDanceShow gave to most of those commenters.

I'm troubled by many of his replies to commenters and-among other things, I wish that @SaginawDanceShow had a greater understanding of the importance of documenting folk content (cheers) than it appears to me that he has.
