The music for the chair exercise that is given as Showcase Video #1 in this pancocojams post is the 1976 R&B song "Car Wash" by Rose Royce.
ReplyDeleteThat chair exercise was choreographed in 2021 by my then 8 year old granddaughter Jaiya Hughes, assisted by my daughter (her mother) Tazi Hughes.
The other person in the video is Roland Ford (October 4, 1948 - October 14, 2023). Roland was known throughout Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and other cities in the United States as "the line dance king". He introduced soul line dancing throughout Pittsburgh and elsewhere and choreographed a number of soul line dances.
Around 2017 Roland Ford started his "Dance And Be Fit" classes for senior citizens and other people who have mobility issues. My daughter Tazi Hughes was a Dance And Be Fit teacher and her daughter Jaiya Hughes was a junior Dance And Be Fit teacher.
Jaiya conceptualized the idea of the "Car Wash" chair dance because her grandfather was unable to stand and do line dances.
RIP Roland Ford.
