INFORMATION ABOUT KAMAUU
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamauu
"Kamau Mbonisi Kwame Agyeman, known professionally by his stage name, Kamauu (stylized as KAMAUU, and formerly KAMAU and brother KAMAU), is an American singer and rapper. He released his debut EP, A Gorgeous Fortune, in 2016.

Early life and education

Kamau Mbonisi Kwame Agyeman was born on February 2, 1991, in Washington, D.C.[1] and grew up in Prince George's County, Maryland.[2] His parents introduced him and his two siblings to music at a young age.[1] His older brother is a fellow musician who goes by the stage name, Nkō Khélí.[3] As a child, Agyeman attended school at the Ujamaa Shule in Washington which is described as the "oldest completely independent Afrikan-centered school in the United States". While at the school, he was exposed to a variety of traditional African instruments like the djembe, and he studied African music, history, and culture.[1][4] In 2009, he moved to Brooklyn, New York where he began attending the Pratt Institute to study film. While at Pratt, he met other musicians and artists and was introduced to the artist collective, BiGCiTYBiGCiTY. Members of the collective helped him hone his musical skills.[2] He later graduated from Pratt in 2014 with a BA in Film.[4][5]

Career

In February 2014, Kamauu released a mixtape called TheKAMAU-CASSETTE.[2] In 2015,[6] Agyeman received recognition for his song covers including those for Outkast's "Hey Ya!" and Adele's "Hometown Glory".[7] In May 2016, he released a video for his song, "Jambo". The video was the first in a six-part series of films that would be made for each song on his A Gorgeous Fortune EP.[8] Another single (and its accompanying video) from that collection called "Jusfayu" (featuring No Wyld) was released in June 2016.[9] It would go on to be featured on an episode of the HBO series, Insecure[10] and on the soundtrack for FIFA 17.[11] It has also accumulated over 10 million streams on various platforms as of August 2019.[12] A remix of the song by Lion Babe was released later in June 2016.[13] A Gorgeous Fortune itself came out in July 2016 on Invisible Firm and was followed by a Kamauu summer tour with Lion Babe"...

LYRICS - "JUSFAYU"

"composer- Kamauu featuring No Wyld

Track 2 on "A Gorgeous Fortune"

Aug. 26, 2015

A song about one-directional romance.

[Intro: KAMAU]

Good Lord

What you don't say, what you don't

I did it just for you

I did it just for you

I did it just for you

And you just don't care

(YEBO)

[Verse 1: KAMAU]

All them other dudes by your side

You can let them ride off to the sunset

I'm a sunrise

Why don't you want to collabo-llaborate? (Hey!)

Even though I make mistakes, oh yeah

I'm not a bad guy

I ain't all put together

But if you stick around

You gon' see I'm getting better and

[Chorus: KAMAU]

I did it just for you

I did it just for you

I did it just for you

And you just don't care

I did it just for you

I did it just for you

I did it just for you

And you just don't care

[Verse 2: KAMAU]

Mmm this could be a Cinderella story for a fella

If you let a brother come and spend a minute

With you only got a penny and I got from my loafers

Bet if I got something worth a penny, I can invest and

I'd be the best investment you've ever made

I'm invested but you don't care

It's interesting that you don't care

But you care about some less interesting guys

Those guys are wack (Wack!)

Just bring it back

Bring it back to me cause

[Chorus: KAMAU]

[Bridge: KAMAU]

Get that drank (Get that drank!)

In your cup (In your cup!)

Sip that drank (Sip that drank!)

Lift it up (Lift it up!)

Point your fingers (Point your fingers!)

At your boo (At your boo!)

Say 'baby I did it' (Baby I did it!)

Just for you (Just for you!)

[Verse 3: No Wyld]

If you got a minute can you spend it on me? (On me, on me)

Gotta get in 'fore I blow up and I got moneys

Cause you know I'm gon' get it (Gon' get it, gon' get it!)

Yeah, you know I'm gon' get it (Gon' get it, gon' get it!)

Come get it, don't sweat it, celebrate, confetti

Show me love when you're ready

'Til then I'll be chillin'

Speak cause you know I can't read my ions

Can't spend more time unless I [?]

Gotta wait for the stars to realign

You said 'it's all about time'

Girl, I just got signed

Why you gotta be all you, all you?

Soon it's gonna be all me, all me

You gon' see that it's too late and

You gon' say 'I wish we dated'

But I love you so I'm waitin', stop!

Procrastinatin', start appreciatin'

It's not too late

[Chorus: KAMAU]

[Break: KAMAU]

Baby, I did it (Baby, I did it)

Just for you (Just for you)

Baby, I did it (Baby, I did it)

Just for you (Just for you)

Did it, did it (Did it, did it)

Just for you (Just for you)

Did it, did it (Did it, did it)

Just for you (Just for you)

[Chorus: KAMAU]"

  1. I first heard this song while attending my daughter's dance performance (w/ Alumni Theater Company). The choreography matched the tempo & the lyrics so well, that I became a fan of this song. While looking it up, I found this post! Thank you Pancocojams for the background info on the artist & the lyrics! You always come through!

    1. Anonymous, thanks for sharing how you first heard Kamauu's song "usfayu. That dance performance sounds great! It's wonderful that your daughter has that opportunity to learn dancing and her group and their families be introduced to different music.

      Best wishes!
