This is a reposting of that video which Famous Amos had published years before on his Instagram and Facebook social media channels.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE FAMOUS AMOS MEME
"Famous Amos, also known by his username @famousamos_sofunny, is an internet comedian and dancer most known for his public dance videos in which he stops traffic or disguises himself, only to pop out and perform his signature moves. He started on Instagram in 2017 but moved to other platforms like Facebook and Twitter. He's always accompanied by his hypeman, @ipodthedj3x, who holds the camera for him. On TikTok, many users referred to Amos as the "Black Man in an Orange Suit," posting videos about him appearing places.
Background
Famous Amos' real name is Amos Brazan, and he was born in
Memphis, Tennessee. He went to high school at Northside High School and
attended college at Mississippi Valley State University. According to his
Facebook page's About section,[1] he's only had two "real jobs" in
his entire life: a busboy at a TGIFridays in Downtown Memphis and a lifeguard
in North Memphis. In college and after graduation, Amos started doing stand-up
comedy, hosting events and other jobs within the entertainment industry. In
2017, he won "Comedian Of The Year" in Mississippi.
The video shows him doing the "I Bet You Won't" Challenge, something Amos came up with in which he performs a dance to the song "I Bet U Won't" performed by Mouse And Level. A music video for the song … was uploaded to YouTube on May 6th, 2017, where over the course of five years, it received roughly 11.1 million views.
On March 27th, 2017, the YouTube channel Jovan YN reposted Amos' first Instagram video, receiving roughly 3.4 million views over the course of five years … This repost in particular circled a lot of engagement back towards Amos' Instagram page.
[…]
In early 2022, many of Amos' videos were reposted to TikTok,
bringing about a resurgence of interest in his content"...

WHAT "i BET YOU WON'T" MEANS
The vernacular meaning of 'I Bet You Won't" is daring or taunting a person to do something.
Here's an 2009 urban dictionary definition of "I bet you won't swing":
"Tellin someone you bet they won't do something,
particularily you bet they won't start a fight.
Girl I'm bout to beat his ass!
I bet you won't swing!"
-JYahhh,December 22, 2009;
In the context of those videos, the saying "I Bet U Won't" means that Famous Amos is dancing in outrageous and unlikely circumstances, presumably in response to dares that others gave him or he gave himself. In some other "I Bet U Won't" Tik Tok videos, people are shown performing the Mohead Swagg, the signature dance that Famous Amos performs/ed. In those videos "I Bet U Won't" asks "Who won the dance battle?" (Who danced the best?).

Thanks for visiting pancocojams.
The first documented vernacular use of "I bet you won't" that I've come across online is the 1998 Hip Hop record "Bet'cha Won't Get Crunk" by The Crowd Pleasers. The Crowd Pleasers (T.C.P.) were an Atlanta, Georgia group. According to https://www.discogs.com/release/3671662-The-Crowd-Pleasers-Betcha-Wont-Get-Crunk describes the genre of music as "Electronic Hip Hop" and the style of music as "Bass Music, Bounce.",
ReplyDeleteHere's a comment from the discussion thread for the song "I Bet U Won't" by Famous Amos’ use of this song in comedic dance videos and the creation of his social media ”I Bet U Won’t Challenge” ( also given as “I Bet U Won’t Challenge”) caused this song going viral
ReplyDelete@662chillin, 2017, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_U8nLJBEHU
"662Dee - I don't know why these people acting so salty about people saying this song is hot because of Mississippi. That's not #FakeNews. That's a fact. Mississippi FW BR and LA as a whole. Why would a MS DJ be playing a two year old song at a party at MVSU if we didn't mess with BR? Famous Amos broke this song (and I'm Lit as well) with tens of millions of hits on social media which made them shoot this video. and the song is still gaining steam all because of Mississippi. If BR was messing with the song like that, it would have had more than 15K before March. But it didn't.
People from every coast are doing the #IBetYouWontChallenge because of Amos. That's a win for Level, Mouse and BR as well as my alma mater MVSU because it shows that we are a very underrated party school (especially among HBCUs). This is at least the 4th song that I can remember going viral because of MVSU (this song, I'm Lit, Mohead Swagg, Everybody Gay (I hate that song lol))"
-snip-
Here's explanations for these initials:
fw= f- --k with ["hangs with"; "get's along with"
BW= Baton Rouge, Louisiana
LA= Louisiana
Also, that comment refers to the song "I'm Lit" by Papa Hussein and the song and dance "Mohead Swagg" by Ya Boy Lil Al which was recorded in 2010. The Mohead Swagg is the Mississippi originated dance that Famous Amos performed to the "I Bet You Won't
song. The rappers Mouse and Level who recorded this song are from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
