tammy jacobson, Feb 27, 2014

Stumbled upon the accent tag that has been going around for a few years. so even though i am late with it...i still decide to participate.

The words for this accent challenge are the same as those that are given in Showcase Video #2.

Here's information about Dundalk, Maryland from that video's discussion thread:

@yetzchaqeaton6888, 2016
"Im from Baltimore City and I moved to Dundalk in 2005 and I see Dundalk as a suburbs and Sparrows Point as a Rural Suburb like a mini-Glen Burnie with less houses. Now, the accent of those Suburbanites are just like the accent of the Urban dwellers as the townships are adjacent to the city which the cultures are always blending, and everything she said is just like the way urbanites speak and pronounce words!!! My mother is from Glen Burnie and my father is from Cherry Hill, (South Baltimore) and I was raised in PHW (westside) and Fayette/Orleans (eastside), I KNOW BALTIMORE LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND, from poplar grove to Belair... from northern parkway to Westport."

SHOWCASE VIDEO #4 -
HOW TO: Talk like you're from Baltimore | Baltimore Slang

BE PHENAHMENAL, Jul 26, 2017

Couldn't decide what I wanted my first video to be, so I started with something that represents me!!

WARNING- This video includes a few curse words.

This vlogger begins with the Black Baltimore pronunciation of the word "Baltimore" and then shares the following Black  Baltimore AAVE terms:

dummy/woe = "It's like saying "Yo"

guy= That's just a hype word "Guy, cut up!"

Cuttin up = "is like when somebody yping you up you dancing or say you...doin your dance for real they say "guy, you cuttin up"...

cruddy = "you did somebody dirty; you did somebody wrong".

crouchy/live = "
both of them mean the same thing; asically mean like it's lit like that's the place you need to be"

Yaddamean = "I don't know what it means...
like it's one of those you feel me"

bop = [Pancocojams editor: This vlogger gives examples that I think means something unexpected happened and people say the word bop. But I'm not sure that I understood her definition.]

geeking = "We say that 24-7. Geeking means two things: She acting stupid and I'm not ready to do all that. The other meaning
can mean laughing you know to the point where you crying roll on the floor"

Bipped up = "Boys
usually say that because they mean you got a little fresh  shape up you feeling you're feeling good you're bipped up for him"

[Pancocojams Editor: In Pittsburgh, Pa, Black people use "shape up" to mean getting our hair done ("touched up"; styled to refresh an old hair treatment or styling. This may be the same meaning as "bipped up"].

Been been -"It means you been doing it you know, self-explanatory"

Or whatever= "It's not a slang. It's something we say at the end of our sentences"

Playing bent = "You actin goofy.Stop acting goofy."

Bittie = "That's my bittie basically means "That's my homegirl"

Furred= "means you're drunk".....the other meaning [is that] you're dirty or you just ratchet or something like that"

Dead = "you're not in to that It's dead"

Dookie = "
i don't know if a lot of people say that but i say i'll be like girl dukey Get that out my face. I'm not feeling it."
