This pancocojams post presents a compilation of selected comments from the discussion thread of Nigerian Afro-Beat singer Rudeboy's song "Ayoyo". All of these selected comments were published within the first seven hours that that video was published on YouTube and all of them include a reference to the commenter's geographical location (nation, city, region).[Read my Editor's Note for more information about the guidelines for inclusion in this compilation.]

While surfing YouTube, I noticed that an official video of Rudeboy's song "Ayoyo" had just been published and had a lot of views for that short period of time. I clicked on that video and then began to casually read its discussion thread. I soon noticed how often commenters cited nations besides Nigeria where this singer is from were represented. 

While reading these comments, I became curious about which African nations-and other nations- would be represented and which would be missing  from this discussion thread. Since Rudeboy is from Nigeria, I figured that there would be a number of nation signing comments from that country, but I wondered what other West African nations commenters would come from. I also guessed (correctly) that there would be a sizable number of commenters from East Africa, and from the Southern African region. However, I was surprised that there were so few comments [thus far] from the nation of South Africa. I also guessed (correctly) that there would be far fewer commenters from Central Africa and from North Africa.

Given that Afro-beats has gained popularity throughout the world, and Rudeboy himself is popular outside of the continent of Africa (as a solo singer and formerly along with his twin brother Peter in the duo P Square), I also wondered what nations outside of Africa would be represented in this video's discussion thread. 

I was also interested in what the commenters said about the artist and/or the song, and/or about the geographic area that they represented, and how they said it. (For instance, would nations from the Southern region of Africa be represented and , if  so, would those commenters use the "I approve" pattern that I've noticed for a lot of their comments- and had that "I approve" formula spread to other regions of Africa?) In addition, I was curious when (how soon) other nations beside Nigeria would be represented in that discussion thread.  

I had time on my hands so I decided for the "historical record" to document these comments and share it on this pancocojams blog  I'm aware that this topic isn't that serious. I also recognize that a compilation of "nation signing in" comments for this discussion thread that was made within a longer time frame would yield more results and perhaps very different results. 

These are ALL of the nation the comments in the discussion thread for Rudeboy's official video of "Ayoyo" that were published during that specific period of time which include a referent or references to geographical locations. 

Most of these "nation signing in" comments ended with a two letter abbreviation for one (or more) nations. One commenter "represented" his nation by including its international telephone code without otherwise naming that nation. Two commenters included the name of the ctiy where they live, and a few commenters mentioned the region where they live (such as East Africa).  

The exceptions are a comments that indicated that this song was "the best in Africa" and a comment that reads "From East to the west , north to the south Africa Ayoyo".  I also didn't include a comment in which a singer/musician promoted himself. Two other exceptions are responses to a question about the song that a commenter made who had included a referent to his or her nation in their comment. 

I read all of the comments in that discussion thread from 3:30 PM ET to around 4:40 PM ET on Oct. 13, 2021. I then accidentally re-loaded that video. The statistics for that video which are given above are from when I re-loaded it. Those statistics indicate that Rudeboy's "Ayoyo" official video had "premiered 5 hours ago" [on Oct. 13, 2021]. When I first began reading that discussion thread, the notation indicated that Rudeboy's song  "Ayoyo" had  premiered "4 hours ago". However, a few comments in that discussion thread indicated that they were written 7 hours and 6 hours ago.

These comments are presented in the relative order that they were published based on their publishing time, with the oldest comments (given as 7 hours ago) presented first.  Numbers are added for referencing purposes only.

How many of these nation abbreviations do you know without looking them up via Google search or another search engine? And how many knew what nations that the cities that were included are in without looking that up?
