"American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) is a term referring
to descendants of enslaved Africans in the area that would become the United
States from its colonial period onward, and to the political movement of the
same name. Both the concept and the movement grew out of the hashtag #ADOS
created by Yvette Carnell and Antonio Moore.[1]

Supporters of the ADOS movement say they should have their own racial category on census forms and college applications, and should not be
lumped in with other Black people—namely modern Black African immigrants to the
United States and Black immigrants from the Caribbean.[2]"

"@Ade Ayodele hahaha highlife didn't start with mensa,
mensa became the first highlife musician to breakthrough to Nigeria so I get
why you may think his sound is highlife. Authentic highlife sound was started
with saprewa which is like the kora, the gankogul bell responsible for the
'keke' sounds in highlife, the guitar and local drums. That type of highlife is
the original and had nothing to do with AA music and artist like bisa kdei
still use those sounds not all highlife musicians use jazz sound to be fair.
Mensa was a jazz musician and decided to mix jazz with the keke sound to create
his own style and obviously others picked on it too. The like of osibisa too mixed jazz , African drums and pop music
of that era it is not certain what category to put them really because they
sounded more like afro pop or the afro beat and not highlife. I guess Ghanaians
didn't quite make that difference clear until fela coined his afro beat term
because some of them were doing afro pop/ afrobeat and still called it highlife
and others were doing the authentic highlife and making waves as well. I agree
some folks added jazz and pop to the highlife but was that real highlife no it
wasn't. The real sound had no jazz but
it is still very much enjoyed today when played."

traditional types amplified by using foreign instruments to suit our style as
the world advanced then came introduction of other instruments hence this
particular sound was forming in Nigeria but it was just Nigerian music till a
particular dj labeled it afro beat (African beat).nd then to separate it from
the type fela did he added an "s" i.e afrobeatS which is actually
being played in this songs times nd times again we see artistes being creative
by mixing foreign genres for arts that doesn't mean it was inspired or gotten from
the genre it was mixed from I mean how can u even confidently make statements
like American or Jamaican music influenced African ones really the son teaching
the father?π..just like me saying old town road by Lil
nas x nd then draw the conclusion that rap influenced country..or hearing the
trap song whoopty that sampled Indian songs nd then stating that Indian music
influenced rap...there r so many high Life or other African songs I can refer u

"@Green
Happenings My friend, don't strees
yourself over that troll. Even the "fi" is not anything jamaica at
all. It's Nigerian pidgin English. Wiz kid and temi only ommited the
"t" at the end. That's Nigerian pidgin. I fit do am. I fit come your
crib. But when we pronounce it, sometimes the "t" doesn't sound in,
so it sounds like "fi"."

"@aleav219 I'm Nigerian. Afrobeats (Different from
Fela's Afrobeat), is not a genre. It is a lable that DJs in the UK invented to
label all African pop music, despite the sound. This song is a pop fusion song
with heavy R&B."

"@NaK Ho go educate your self history is very
important. It’s sad when I see black people lacking in that department. We are
all Africans. Thanks to the slave trade we were exported around the world from
Africa. Stop making a fool of yourself. Term use to describe people of colour
in the U.S is African American, In Latin countries Afro Latina or Latino. The
Caribbean before use to use West Indian but has change over time to Afro
Caribbean when talking about black Caribbean people. So educate yourself FYI
I’m from St Vincent and the Grenadines and I am an African that’s where my
roots resides."

"This track has rnb influence. It has similar beats with
'keep on keeping on' Mc lyte ft Xscape but a faster pace. The song has RnB and
afrobeat in it. It's like saying One dance by Drake is afrobeat, it has
afrobeat influence but it's not. Same with Essence, hence it's doing well on
the billboard chart."

"@adjoa anima first of all are you Nigerian? You sound ignorant cause there is a
tune that identifies with ppls culture and country no matter how you dissect
it. . This is not an immitation creativity goes beyond the US of A boo. Stop
calling pol liars cause you cant handle the fact that Africans have been or
Nigerians have been doing their thing way before you were born and they are
recognized for it. If any immitation it will be so obvious but trust me this
time you missed.. You dont know Nigerian languages or tribe or music peculiar
to them if i listen to other African country music and i am thrilled i will be
honest with my self instead of cliaming
their honor. Deal with it sweetheart.. Diamond platinum from Tanzania sings so
well and i respect him if he sings slow music and so well with his native or a
mixture of English, pidgin and dialect tune.. Boo you dont know what is going
on.. Hahaha. Whiz kid is a yoruba boy you no nothing about that language you
are just here to argue blindly but especially Nigerian fans who know the tune
know what they are listening to clown!!! Stop embarrassing yourself out here
appreciate good music and keep it moving why argue over nothing. Lol"

"@Dragon Slayer The
God thos is not reggae.. πππ.
Its yoruba music tune mixed with pidgin,
english words with a slow beat. Its Nigerian musicπ€£π€£π€£yall..
Whiz loves spicing with jamaican slangs in some tracks but this one tight here is a typical Naija
music.. Get familiar with it. πππππ"

"Or…or..hear me out y’all…this is R&B AND Afrobeats potentially.
Y’all are aware that genres can blend or…no…? If you look at Wikipedia…the
stylistic origins of Afrobeats is R&B, hip hop, dancehall and othe subgenres. I understand being proud of your
culture and wanting to claim something. I get that. But when you type words,
look at the definition. That’s all I hope and wish."
