INFORMATION ABOUT SAM COOKE
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Cooke
"Samuel Cook[2] (January 22, 1931 – December 11, 1964),[2]
known professionally as Sam Cooke, was an American singer, songwriter, and
entrepreneur. He was also influential as a composer and producer, and is
commonly known as the King of Soul for his distinctive vocals and significance
in popular music.[3]
Cooke was born in Mississippi and moved to Chicago with his
family at an early age. He began singing as a child and joined the Soul
Stirrers before going solo and scoring a string of hit songs including
"You Send Me", "A Change Is Gonna Come", "Cupid",
"Wonderful World", "Chain Gang", "Twistin' the Night
Away", and "Bring It On Home to Me". In 1964, Cooke was shot and
killed by the manager of a motel in Los Angeles.[4] After an inquest and
investigation, the courts ruled Cooke's death to be a justifiable homicide;[5]
his family has since questioned the circumstances of his death."...

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SONG "A CHANGE IS GONNA COME"
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Change_Is_Gonna_Come
" "A Change Is Gonna Come" is a song by American recording
artist Sam Cooke. It initially appeared on Cooke's album Ain't That Good News,
released mid-February 1964[1] by RCA Victor; a slightly edited version of the
recording was released as a single on December 22, 1964. Produced by Hugo &
Luigi and arranged and conducted by René Hall, the song was the B-side to
"Shake".
The song was inspired by various personal events in Cooke's life, most prominently an event in which he and his entourage were turned away from a whites-only motel in Louisiana. Cooke felt compelled to write a song that spoke to his struggle and of those around him, and that pertained to the Civil Rights Movement and African Americans. The song contains the refrain, "It's been a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come."
Though only a modest hit for Cooke in comparison with his
previous singles, "A Change Is Gonna Come" is widely considered
Cooke's best composition and has been voted among the best songs ever released
by various publications. In 2007, the song was selected for preservation in the
Library of Congress, with the National Recording Registry deeming the song
"culturally, historically, or aesthetically important."[2]...

LYRICS: A CHANGE IS GONNA COME
(Composer Sam Cooke)
[Verse 1]
I was born by the river
In a little tent
Oh, and just like the river, I've been runnin'
Ever since
[Chorus]
It's been a long
A long time comin', but I know
A change gon' come
Oh, yes it will
[Verse 2]
It's been too hard livin'
But I'm afraid to die
'Cause I don't know what's up there
Beyond the sky
[Chorus]
It's been a long
A long time comin', but I know
A change gon' come
Oh, yes it will
[Verse 3]
I go to the movie
And I go downtown
Somebody keep tellin' me "don't hang around"
Chorus]
It's been a long
A long time comin', but I know
A change gon' come
Oh, yes it will
[Verse 4]
Then I go to my brother
And I say, "Brother, help me please"
But he winds up
Knockin' me
Back down on my knees
Lor', there been time that I thought
I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to
Carry on
[Chorus]
It's been a long
A long time comin', but I know
A change gon' come
Oh, yes it will
