This blog features United States military cadences as a way of increasing the recognition that -to a large extent- these compositions are a part of African American culture-because of their history and their call & response lyrical structure. The African American influence on United States military cadences can also be documented because a large number of their lyrics come from African American recorded music. Furthermore, the way that many of these cadences are called (sung), particularly by African American drill sergeants, are proof that these compositions are part of African American culture. As such, United States military cadences are yet another African American cultural gift to the United States and the rest of the world.
