ABOUT THE SONG "CORNBREAD AND COLLARD GREENS"
"Collard Greens And Cornbread" is a love song and not really a song about "soul food" i.e. cuisine that is culturally associated with African Americans, particularly African Americans from the Southern region of the United States.
"I go crazy when you love me, got me acting a mess
Even got the nerve to say you're better than my momma's
Collard greens and cornbread, yeah
Collard greens and cornbread, yeah"
-snip-
That song also mentions another soul food dish - sweet potato pie:
"Baby, and you're my sweet potato pie
Sugar, you know you are"
-snip-
Sweet potato pie taste almost like but not the same as pumpkin pie.

You'll find that no rhyme in that collection refers to collard greens, cornbread, or sweet potato pie. Also, no rhyme in that collection refers to fried chicken, another Southern United States dish that is considered to be "soul food".
