African American Rock & Roll Dances (1960s)

Edited by Azizi Powell

This post showcases seven videos of African American originated instructional Rock & Roll dances from the 1960s.

It should be noted that these videos document a time when African Americans were only featured on television programs as entertainers for White people. Consequently, the studio dancers are White, and their dancing often doesn't accurately reflect how the dance was supposed to be done.

The content of this post is presented for sociological, entertainment, and aesthetic reasons.

My thanks to these songs composers and performers. My thanks also to the producers and uploaders of these featured videos. Special thanks to SixtiesPopGold.
