"I'm Not In Daycare" Video & Lyrics (Kid Remix Of Cardi B - Bodak Yellow)

Edited by Azizi Powell

[Revised October 28, 2017]

This is Part I of a two part pancocojams series that features the children's Rap song that I've entitled "I'm Not In Daycare"*

Part I showcases a video of children's remix of of Carla B's Hip Hop song "Bodax Yellow" ("I'm Not In Daycare")*

My transcription of the lyrics to this children's remix are also included in this post.

Click http://pancocojams.blogspot.com/2017/10/analyzing-comments-from-youtube.html for Part II of this series. Part II of this series provides an analysis of categories of comments from the YouTube discussion thread for "I'm Not In Daycare" (Kid Remix Of Cardi B - Bodak Yellow)*. This analysis pays particular attention to the use of African American Vernacular English terms and grammar as well as the use of internet/text writing by commenters who appear to be children or pre-teens.

*This video has no title for this song except Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow" (Kid Remix). However, as there are other "Kid remixes" that use the instrumental music for "Bodax Yellow", this children's rap song certainly should have an additional title. I use "I'm Not In Daycare" as the that line is most often repeated in that song.

The content of this post is presented for cultural, entertainment, and aesthetic purposes.

Thanks to original composer of the "Bodax Yellow" music and thanks to the composer of this Kid remix. Thanks also to all those who are featured in this video and thanks to Stephen J. Taylor for directing and publishing this video on YouTube.

"Rake It Up Kid Remix | Back To School Anthem", another "Kid Remix" of Carla B's Hip Hop song "Bodax Yellow" will be
showcased on a subsequent pancocojams post whose link will be added here.

WARNING: The original "Bodax Yellow" song contains profanity and isn't suitable for children.

LYRICS: I'M NOT IN DAYCARE (KID REMIX OF CARDI B-"BODAK YELLOW")
(Stephen J. Taylor, composer?)

I’m a big kid
I’m not in daycare
Now I go to school
These are expensive so in recess
These are my playing shoes
Snack time I can’t get them both
I don’t wanna choose.
And we don’t take naps
So don’t get comfortable.

I’m not in daycare
Now I go to school
I’m not in daycare
Now I go to school

Mama told me to behave
So that's what I'm gonna do
I’m at the top of my class
And I don’t plan to move.

Now she said “What
About who?
On that test I got a “D”?
Girl, please.
The only grades I make are “A”s and “B’s”.
Come see, my report card if you don’t trust me.
But when I show my Daddy he say he’s so proud of me.

Honestly, when I go to school I miss my mommy.
But I’m a big kid I am not a baby.
At daycare we learn our numbers and our “ABC”s.
But now I’m in 5K and I’m learning how to read.

I’m not in daycare
Now I go to school
I’m not in daycare
Now I go to school

These are expensive so in recess
These are my playing shoes.
Snack time I can’t get them both
I don’t wanna choose.
And we don’t take naps
So don’t get comfortable

I’m not in daycare
Now I go to school
I’m not in daycare
Now I go to school

Mama told me to behave
So that's what I'm gonna do
I’m at the top of my class
And I don’t plan to move.

Transcription by Azizi Powell from the video. Additions and corrections are welcome. Stephen J. Taylor is the publisher of this video and is listed as the video's director. If he isn't the composer to this song, and you know the name of that composer, please share that information. Thanks!

"These are expensive" refer to the girl's tennis shoes.

"Recess" - a time for play during school that usually occurs after lunch

"5K" probably refers to the classroom number for the girl's kindergarten class.

In many schools in the United States, the grading system is "E" (or "F") failing, "D" below average, "C" average, "B" good, and "A" very good.

  1. What happen to the video? My 3 year old loves the song, and it got her to stop crying when I drooped her off to go to work.

    1. necksoreal, I wasn't aware that this video was removed from YouTube until I read your comment.

I'm not sure when this happened or why. My guess is that the remix didn't have permission to adapt this song or use its tune.

I'm sorry about this as I thought the concept for that particular remix was really cute and and meaningful.

I hope that you've found another substitute song to help your 3 year old adapt better when you drop her off to daycare.

    2. Thanks for the reply, she watches other things now, but still ask about that one as well. There are other kid songs that have the same music too, weird.. Well I hope whatever it is, the video pops back up at some point. It was very cute and a great song to get kids comfortable leaving home or daycare etc. Thanks again! Neeka
