CHANT EXAMPLES (Numbers - Letter B)
Examples with the same title or first line are given in relative chronological order based on their posting date, their retrieval online or collection date by me, or the date that I recall learning or hearing the examples.

NUMBERS:
1-2-3-4-5 (Version #1)
1-2-3-4-5 Zeta Phi Beta till the day I die No skee no wee no dst cause Zeta Phi Beta is the one for me
24-25-26 them other girls you with sophisticated and smart too
we dont skee wee we dont oooh-oop
Z-Phi, Z-Phi, Z-Phi-i-i
-Tall Tale Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated Gamma Nu chapter Fall 1997; 8/14/2007
-snip-
"Skee wee" is the signature call for members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. A call is a unique utterance that is associated with specific Greek lettered organizations. Calls are used by members only to recognize (greet) other members of that specific fraternity or sorority, and to promote ("represent" ; big up") that organization during public events.
-snip-
The name "tall tale" may be a play on the "tail" position in Black Greek letter sororities and fraternities. Traditionally, the tail is the last member in a vertical line in the pledge group (which is also called a "line"). The last person is usually the tallest member of that group.

AIN'T NOBODY
Ain't nobody love me betta
Than Omega Psi Phi I N C
-from a Q Pearl's memory (1991)
-snip-
"Q Pearl" is a (unofficial) little sister group (auxillary) of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc. This contributor said that the verse could have been "Can't nobody love me better". She recalls that this verse was repeated over and over again. This song was not only sung by the Ques but also by the little sisters. Btw, my informant indicated that at her small college, the few Ques on campus treated their little sisters with the utmost respect, and never allowed any other visiting Quess to disrespect them or demand any "favors" from them.

Chaka Khan's R&B song "Ain't Nobody" [1984] is the source song for this Omega Psi Phi fraternity song which was also sung by the liittle sister pledges.

AKA WHAT YA DO TO ME
AKA what ya do to me
You make me feel so good
AKA what you do to me
Just like I knew you would.

We cross the burning sands

This is one of three pledge songs that I remember from my AKA "ivy" line. The other songs "Hiro Hiro" is found on the page for the letter "H" and "Jem Boobs" is found on the page for the letter "J".

ALL OF MY LOVE (PEACE AND HAPPINESS)
Editor's comments:
This song is claimed by multiple Black Greek lettered fraternities & sororities. Comments about which fraternity or sorority was the first to sing this song are posted below.

The musical inspiration for this fraternity/sorority song is the Chambers Brothers' 1970 rock/soul classic song "Love, Peace and Happiness": sound file: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k48R2wJWIr8; lyrics: http://www.elyrics.net/read/c/chambers-brothers-lyrics/love-peace-and-happiness-lyrics.html

ALL OF MY LOVE (Version #3)
Well it started 'bout 12 o'clock midnight
And since that day it's been the mysteries of Omega
That no man would ever talk about.
And when I die and leave this old world
I know there's a place for me.
It's in that land shinin bright up above
and no man but Omega, no man but Omega
I say no man but Omega can see.
That's why I'm singing to you
All of my love,
[My love]
My Peace and Happiness
[Arf!]*
I want to give it to Omega.

All of my love,
[My love, My love]
My Peace and Happiness
I want to give it to Omega

* "Arf" is the sound of a dog barking, that sound being associated with members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

SITE VISITORS' COMMENTS ABOUT THE SONG- "ALL OF MY LOVE"

Editor:
Here are comments that I received at the now retired cocojams.com website about the Greek letter organization song "All Of My Love, Peace, And Happiness." These comments are given in the order that they were received by email to that site.

All Of My Love, Peace, & Happiness (Comment #1)
I am a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority inc. I crossed on May 20, 1984. At that time all of the Black Frats and Sororities of the time had similar chants, but of course there were those that were unique to a particular group.

All of our love, peace and harmony, I'm gonna' give to________(you fill in the blank). It could be Zeta, Sigma, Alpha, Delta, Omega, or Kappa. The groups that usually used this chant were the Sigmas and Zetas.
-Aphrodite, Spring '84 Omicron Mu, Buffalo NY; 4/11/2006
-snip-
Editor:
I've heard members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc chant "All of our love, peace, and happiness, I'm gonna give to Omega" . And, as Aphrodite mentioned, this was done in staggered harmony-meaning one group of brothers "sung" this chant and did a particular step and then kept on chanting and doing that step, while another sub-group of the step team started another chant and a different movement, and then third group and last group sung another chant and did another movement. All the sections of that fraternity step team were on the "stage" or the college gym floor at the same time. The three divisions of the step team are in triangle formation, and the step master stands in front of each and starts them off by singing the chant and demonstrating the specific step that sub-group was to do. Each member of that sub-group did that step basically the same way, but some might do it a little more forcefully than others. This gets the audience real hyped. In my opinion, it's usually one of the highlights of a step show.

All Of My Love, Peace, & Happiness (Comment #2)
the chant.... "All of my Love Peace and Happiness I'm going to give it to my Alpha" was written by Alphas All of my Love Peace and Happiness I'm gonna give it to my Alpha
-Tre; 7/27/2006
-snip-
Editor:
Thanks for your comment Tre. I'm assuming by "Alphas" you mean "Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc." See the comment written by BigBrotherPrincipal Player on 1/29/2005 that uses the same line as that chant. Also see the comment from Aphrodite, Spring '84 Omicron Mu, Buffalo NY; 4/11/2006 and my comment about other groups who have used the line line "All of my love, peace, and happiness I'm gonna give to Omega." Is there any documentation to prove which group was the first to use this chant?

All Of My Love, Peace, & Happiness (Comment #4)
This is to addressed to all those who are confused about the chant: "All of my Love, my Peace & Happiness, I will give to Alpha" It is originally an Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated chant...When you look at the main words, All, Love, Peace, Happiness and
Alpha, it spells A-L-P-H-A...So for all you other greeks that claim this is your chant it's not!!! The first and the finest were the originators!!! 06-08 Oh Yeah!!

All Of My Love (Comment #5)
All of my love, my peace and happiness I'm gonna give to A PHI !!

(repeated as a group while death marching)

Death marching is simply the march that the pledges embark on as a group, which usually precedes the walking of the "burning sands". If I'm not mistaken, I believe that every frat or sorority does theirs differently. If you want to see an example just visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zixWpBz3HYo Alpha Phi Alpha of FSU, death march to probate 4/10/08 the Epsilon Theta Chapter of A PHI A death marching. It starts off showing onlookers in the bleachers then they start marching at about 3:05.

ALPHA TRAIN
(Traveling)

Alpha train is slowly coming
To keep on pushing,
If you hurry you might get on it;
Got to keep on pushing,
Got my ticket right in my hand;
Got to keep on pushing.
Soon we;ll be in Alpha land;
Got to keep on pushing,
This train we're waiting for is black and gold.
We're in love with dear old Alpha
No time for looking back...

BROTHERS (Example #1)
I was looking for the name of this but I kouldn't find it. This is the chant a Brother from "O.G." gave us:

Brothers.....
I don't know,
I don't know if I can make it into Kappa Alpha Psi
OHHHHHHHHHHHH, Big Brother said we couldn't make it,
Huhhh, but we got a big surprise
We're gonna cross those burning sands
we're gonna make into Kappa Alpha Psi

I'm not sure what the title of this chant actually is.

Notice the Kappa Alpha Psi custom of using a "k" for words that begin with "c".

Another commenter on that same discussion thread wrote that he also learned this same chant when he was a "scroller", and he didn't know that it was national.

SCROLLERS (Example #2 of "Brothers")
Yup. We did the same chant as scrollers down here @GL with a few substituted words. (Gamma Lamda) Huston-Tillotson University.

Scrollers
I don't know, I don't know if we can make it over
Scrollers, I don't know if we can make it into Kappa Alpha Psi.
OHHHHHHHH, if we can make it into Kappa Alpha Psi
Big Brother said, we wouldn't make it
but we got a big suprise
we're going to cross those burning sands alive
we're going to make it into Kappa Alpha Psi
