JD Vance:

"When I was in law school I met this person that I thought was the most beautiful, most lovely, smartest, kindest, human being in the entire world. And because I grew up in a country that didn't teach us to see skin color first and foremost, I fell in love with a person who wasn't the same skin color as me.  And that's a cool thing that could only happen in the United States of America."

INFORMATION ABOUT THESE REMARKS
JD Vance spoke about his interracial marriage and other interracial marriages at his campaign town hall that was held in Monroeville, Pennsylvania on  September 28, 2024. (Monroeville is a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsHmZi3Y_Ok "Full Remarks: JD Vance at Monroeville, Pennsylvania, town hall" published by WAAY 21, September 28, 2024 (C-Span video).

Also, click https://www.washingtonpost.com/elections/2024/09/28/jd-vance-christian-nationalism-lance-wallnau/ for a Washington Post article about that town hall. (subscription needed.) That article's heading indicates that "The live event was hosted by Lance Wallnau, who has blended hard right politics with Christian supremacy and who has demonized Kamala Harris".

JD Vance's campaign visit to Western Pennsylvania on September 28, 2024 is much more widely known because after that town hall he and members of his staff weren't permitted to have a campaign meet and greet inside a nearby Primanti Bros restaurant. https://triblive.com/local/j-d-vance-apparently-turned-away-from-primanti-bros-in-north-versailles/ "JD vance Apparently Turned Away From Primanti Bros in North Versailles" by Triblive, Jack Troy, September 28, 2024

"I guess shady has never heard of Canada, where mixed marriages are happening all the time, no big deal.
-snip-
"Shady" is an insulting nickname that some Americans have coined for JD Vance as a play on the initials of his first and middle name which he uses in place of those names. Here's a definition of "shady person" from https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Shady%20person [Note that this definition of "shady" is an adjective from African American Vernacular English].

"Shady person (noun) backstabbing ,mischievous, sneaky, and suspicious.

A shady person took my word and used it for theirs.today ......

by Pink warrior June 13, 2018"
-snip-
Calling JD Vance "Shady" also suggests that he is slick, fake, and not to be believed. The nickname "Shady" for JD Vance is a way of "throwing shade" at that politician. Here's a definition for the phrase "throwing shade" from https://www.dictionary.com/e/slang/throwing-shade/:
"Throwing shade is a subtle way of disrespecting or ridiculing someone verbally or nonverbally".

Additional insulting nicknames for JD Vance are found in this compilation of comments from the discussion thread of that Jimmy Kimmel Live video..

"Vance's little diatribe about meeting his wife was so weird. Firstly, he says that he grew up in a country that doesn't teach you to see skin colour first. I'm sorry, but what country is he talking about? Secondly, him saying that that's a "cool thing" that can only happen in America is just so bizarre. Does he think that mixed-race couples just don't exist in other countries?"

"I think the key difference is that political candidates in other countries don't even have to make it an issue, or even can make it an issue. The American obsession with race is not shared in every multi-ethnic nation, and not even in countries that have significantly smaller proportions of ethnic minorities."

"Race??? Are you serious??? We're all of the same race. Technically we're called homo sapiens sapiens."

**
43. @ll7868
"I'm Metis, it means mixed blood, mom's side is Sioux/Blackfoot, dad's side is Welsh/Irish. Metis people are the definition of interracial diversity and we've been recognized as our own First Nations sub-group.

Technically people have been interracially mixing since before Homo sapiens evolved, our ancestors mated with Neanderthals, Cro-Mags and Homo heidelbergensis and modern folks still carry those genes in their DNA. Different cultures can have different blood types even though they can share the same skin color or be different skin tones and same blood types like the Caucasian Germanic hunter/gatherer tribes that divided into light skinned Nordic people like the Danes and Celtic Vikings and darker skinned Mediterranean folks like the Portuguese and Spanish. In the end all humans originated from the same genetic lineage, the only reason to think of humans as different races (as opposed to cultures) is if you're trying to deny the fact of evolution and put one above the others."

"Do you know what I've always found odd? We know that in-breeding leads to health deflects, and that diversity leads to strength - that's why incest isn't seen as a positive thing. We also know that when we breed dogs like this, they end up in ill health and weak. And yet there are people who think that there should be more in-breeding and less diversity. Do they want to weaken our human race? Why?"

"So it can only happen in America that someone can marry someone of a different skin colour? Really?! Growing up in England in the early 1960s, our next door neighbours were an interracial (b&w) couple. In 1970, my sister and I moved to Germany, where my sister later married a black man from Ghana. While doing a retraining course, I befriended a woman, who was married to a black man and has a biracial daughter. Those are just a few examples I have personally seen/experienced. It's not just possible in the USA, Mr. Vance!"
