PANCOCOJAMS EDITOR'S NOTE ABOUT AFRICAN AMERICAN DANCE INSTRUCTION SONGS
"Dance instruction songs" are songs whose lyrics either totally or mostly consist of dance and other movement instructions (such as "turn to the right", or "jump".)

The late 19th century African American song "Juba" is an early example of a dance instruction song.

Many African American line dances are performed to dance instruction songs. Thse dance songs often have the  word "slide" or "stomp" in their titles and those words are usually included in the instructions.

"Slide" means to move smoothly to one side.

"Stomp" means to hit the floor hard with your foot.

..."Willie Perry, Jr. wrote the lyrics for the original around January 1998 and recorded his performance of the original version of the “Casper Slide Part 1” in January 1998. It was titled the Casper Slide as opposed to its later title of Cha Cha Slide. The song was heavily inspired by the Chicago stepping movement. Around June 12, 1999, Perry recorded a second version of the song, entitled “Casper Slide Part 2,” at the home studio of Fred Johnson with the help of Hollywood Scott, band leader for the Platinum Band."

The Mississippi Cha Cha Slide (Stomp) was recorded by Mixx Master Lee in 2007.

The video uploader was incorrect when he or she wrote that this was the Electric Slide. The "Electric Slide" is a different line dance. Click http://pancocojams.blogspot.com/2012/02/selected-videos-of-electric-slide.html for a pancocojam post on the Electric Slide.
