INFORMATION ABOUT RENEE NICOLE GOOD'S KILLING ON JANUARY 7, 2026 IN MINEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (USA)
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Renee_Good "The Killing Of Renee Good"
"On January 7, 2026, Renee Good, a 37-year-old American citizen, was fatally shot by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent[a] Jonathan Ross[b] in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Good was in her car, stopped sideways in the street when Ross drove around her vehicle and returned on foot. Other agents approached, and one told her to get out while reaching into her car through her open window. Ross moved to the front-left of the vehicle as Good briefly reversed, then began driving into the direction of traffic while turning away from Ross. While remaining upright, Ross fired three shots, killing her: one through the windshield, then two through the open driver's side window from the side of her vehicle as it passed him. He later drove away from the scene. Analysts have not conclusively determined whether or not the vehicle struck Ross at any time.

Federal law enforcement officials and President Donald Trump defended the shooting, saying the agent acted in self-defense and that Good ran him over. This account has been contested by eyewitnesses, journalists,[5] and Democratic Party lawmakers, some of whom have called for a criminal investigation.[6] Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota governor Tim Walz called on ICE to end their presence in the city. Thousands have protested in Minneapolis,[7] and more have protested in other cities including Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C.[8]"...

SOME ANTI-ICE PROTEST CHANTS AFTER JANUARY 6, 2026

The protest chants that have no notation are usually vocalized as unison chants.

Some of these protest chants may be vocalized either as unison chants or as call & response chants. I've attributed the call & response designation to those chants that appear to have been or are still being vocalized that way.  I haven't added exclamation points since they don't usually appear on signage. However, when these chants are vocalized, they are expressed as exclamations.

Additions and corrections are very welcome.

INFORMATION ABOUT & EXAMPLES OF THESE EXAMPLES OF SINGING RESISTANCE
These segments are given in no particular order.

Numbers are added for referencing purposes only.

Key details regarding the protests:
  • "Singing ICE Out" Demonstrations: Organizers, including Unidos MN and Women’s March Minnesota, staged musical protests at Target stores in the Twin Cities (specifically mentioning Edina and Minneapolis) to protest the use of parking lots for apprehending immigrants.
  • Clergy Demonstration: More than 100 Twin Cities clergy gathered at Target's downtown Minneapolis headquarters on January 15, 2026, to sing, pray, and demand a stronger stand against federal law enforcement activity.
  • Protester Chants: Participants chanted "We are shopping elsewhere, we shall not be moved".
  • Impact: The protests were in response to videos of federal agents arresting two Target employees at a Richfield store on January 8, 2026. Following the demonstrations, Target management met with the protesting group.
Similar musical, "singing" protests against ICE actions have been reported at Home Depot locations and other cities during the same period. "...

2. AI Overview [results January 18, 2026]
"Protestors have frequently sung "We Shall Not Be Moved" at anti-ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) demonstrations to protest against deportations, detention conditions, and federal immigration raids.

Recent, specifically documented instances include:

San Francisco (Dec 16, 2025): Faith leaders and protesters sang hymns, including "We Shall Not Be Moved," while chaining themselves to the doors of a San Francisco immigration court to protest ICE detentions.

New York (Sept 19, 2025): Protesters, including local elected officials, sang "We Shall Not Be Moved" during a rally outside a Manhattan facility holding cells, resulting in multiple arrests.

Minnesota (Oct 24, 2025): Clergy members and demonstrators sang "We Shall Not Be Moved" and "This Little Light of Mine" during a protest against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem in Minneapolis.

National Context (Jan 2026): Similar songs of resistance have been used in ongoing protests in early 2026, such as in Minneapolis, following high-profile immigration enforcement actions.

The song, a staple of the Civil Rights Movement, is used to signal solidarity and defiance against immigration enforcement efforts.

3. "We Shall Not Be Moved": Nearly a dozen arrested in anti-ICE protest outside NY immigration facility

Global News, Sep 19, 2025  #ice #americanpolitics #GlobalNews

About a dozen New York state and local elected officials were arrested Thursday during protests outside a Manhattan building housing holding cells operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The facility was cited by a federal judge for inhumane conditions.

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander and 10 state lawmakers were taken into custody inside 26 Federal Plaza after they were denied entry to inspect the 10th-floor cells. A group was there to "ensure compliance" with a court order on Thursday requiring ICE to improve conditions at the lock-up, protest organizers said.

More than 75 people were detained by city police and federal agents. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security put the number of overall arrests at 71.

The incident was the latest clash between federal authorities and Democratic politicians opposed to the immigration policies of President Donald Trump.
-snip-
The protestors repeatedly chanted the words "We shall not be moved" and didn't sing that entire protest song. The tune that they used was different from the tune for the Civil Rights song.

Protestors ERUPT into Song as ICE TERRORIZES

The Dangerous Ones, Jan 16, 2026

Protestors meet state terror with harmony and courage. The result is powerful, emotional, and unforgettable.

WARNING -A portion of this video includes the “f word” and “flipping the bird” visuals.
-snip-
Here's my explanation for that "Warning" note:
Pancocojams is a family centered blog and I always add that warning when profanity is used in quotes and/or when what I consider vulgar gestures like "flipping the bird" are used in videos that I've decided to showcase for other reasons. I rarely curse and I especially don't like profanity or vulgar gestures used around children.

However, I understand that the situation regarding ICE and trump's regime is horrendous. And I know that I am really "pissed" about all of it (That word "pissed" being the type of "bad language" I use). So I can understand that people who are saying the f word in these marches, and elsewhere in public when they are talking about the situations that we are experiencing in the USA now are being real and not trying to sugarcoat how they are feeling. So, more power to them.

**.
In this video the lyrics to an adapted version of "We Shall Not Be Moved" (anti-ICE song sung during Target Sit In January 16, 2026]

Refrain:
We shall not, We shall not be moved
We shall not, We shall not be moved
Just like a tree planted by the water
We shall not be moved

Verse 1:
We can stay here all day
We shall not be moved
We can stay here all day
We shall not be moved
Just like a tree
Planted by the water
We shall not be moved

Verse #2
We are shopping elsewhere
We shall not be moved
We are shopping elsewhere
We are not be moved
Just like a tree that’s planted by the water
We shall not be moved.
-snip-
This version of "We Shall Not Be Moved" uses the same tune and tempo of the 1960s Civil Rights song. In the beginning of this very short video clip it appears that one person says the first line of each verse before the group sings the entire verse in unison.

SHOWCASE VIDEO #2 - Hundreds rally in Uptown Charlotte after deadly ICE shooting in Minnesota

 WCNC, Jan 12, 2026
-snip-
Here's the complete auto-generated transcript of this video (with a small amount of my editorial additions or corrections such as capitalizations and added quotation marks)..

"Hundreds gathering in uptown Charlotte as part of a nationwide movement that's being called
"ICE Out for Good."

That's right.

Protesters say they are calling for accountability following the death of Renee Good,
the Minnesota woman shot and killed during an immigration enforcement operation.

Yesterday afternoon people gathered in First Ward Park here in Uptown to protest that deadly ice shooting that happened in Minnesota.

And while this happened miles away, protesters believe it could just as easily happen here.

Now the rally was a part of a nationwide movement called "Ice Out for Good."

Protesters chanted and held handmade signs while marching through uptown demanding justice for Renee Good.

Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent during an enforcement operation in Minneapolis last week.

Advocates say her death has sent shock waves through immigrant communities, including here in Charlotte [North Carolina] where Border Patrol activity has already put many on edge.

"People in our community want to keep each other safe.

That's why we're out here.

That's why we reacted so strongly when ICE was here in the Charlotte area.

We care for everyone around us. We care for our neighbors, um, and I hope it affects some change."

And organizers say this was more than just one. This was more than just about one incident.

They believe this was about coming together as a community, about community safety, and just standing together despite immigration status.

They say they plan to continue staying engaged and pushing for accountability.

Live in Uptown, I'm Destiny Richards, WCNC Charlotte."

New York City MARCHES against Trump: PROTESTS over ICE SHOOTING and VENEZUELA MILITARY ACTION

Diario AS,   Jan 11, 2026  #nyc #donaldtrump #iceprotests

Thousands of protesters marched down Fifth Avenue in New York City on January 11, rallying against President Trump, his administration's actions in Venezuela, and the rising presence of immigration agents across the United States.

The protest, part of a broader series of rallies against the federal government's deportation policies, was sparked by the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother, by an ICE agent in Minnesota. Protesters decried the incident, with many condemning the administration's response and its labeling of Good as a "domestic terrorist."

PANCOCOJAMS EDITOR'S NOTE
Some people might think that showcasing this protest chant and this music is outside of the scope of this blog which since the mission of pancocojams is to present elements and examples of Black cultures throughout the world.

However, while "The people united will never be defeated" chant and musical compositions didn't originate among Black people, we (Black people) have been inspired by this chant and this music along with other people in the world.

Also, Black people have included this chant or modified versions of it in our peaceful protests up to and including the August 2025 protests against federalizing the Washington D.C. police department.

I therefore feel that it is acceptable to publish this pancocojams post on this subject along with this disclaimer/explanation.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE MUSIC COMPOSITION & LYRICS FOR "THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED"
From https://www.laphil.com/musicdb/pieces/5368/the-people-united-will-never-be-defeated [This is the complete reprint except for this page audio [solo piano] file of this song] "The People United Will Never Be Defeated! Frederic RZEWSKI"

"About this Piece

As a classically trained composer and sound engineer, a composition professor, and director of the television station run by the Universidad de Chile, Sergio Ortega (1938-2003) was in an excellent place to become the musical voice of the Chilean left, which he did with inspired energy and skill. He wrote Salvador Allende‘s campaign theme song and then turned Allende’s political program into a theme album, recorded by Inti-Illimani. He wrote anthems for the Partido Radical, the Juventudes Comunistas, and the Central Única de Trabajadores, but is best-known for “¡El pueblo unido, jamás será vencido!” (The People United Will Never Be Defeated), which became the anthem of Allende’s Unidad Popular.

“One day in June, 1973, three months before the bombing by Pinochet’s military coup,” Otega wrote, “I was walking through the plaza in front of the Palace of Finance in Santiago, Chile, and saw a street singer shouting, ‘The people united will never be defeated’ – a well-known Chilean chant for social change. I couldn’t stop, and continued across the square, but his incessant chanting followed me and stuck in my mind.

“On the following Sunday, after the broadcast of the show Chile Says No to Civil War, which I directed for Channel 9, we went with a few artists to eat at my house outside Santiago. Upon arrival, I sat down at my piano and thought about the experience in the plaza and the events at large. When I reproduced the chant of the people in my head, the chant that could not be restrained, the entire melody exploded from me: I saw it complete and played it in its entirety at once. The text unfurled itself quickly and fell, like falling rocks, upon the melody… The song was performed in public two days later by the group Quilapayún in a heavily attended concert in the Alameda.”

In the aftermath of the military coup that deposed Allende, the song became a call to action for the resistance in Chile, and soon spread around the world. It has been recorded, paraphrased, and sampled in many forms and languages, by artists ranging from jazz bassist Charlie Haden to Thievery Corporation and Big Sean in the U.S. alone; still current, it was sung in Cantonese by the protesters in Hong Kong last year.

In 1975, Rzewski – who counted Ortega among his close friends – composed a stunning set of 36 variations on the song. Rzewski grouped his variations in six cycles, with each variation a stage of musical development; the six cycles reflect the meta-development of those six stages. The music ranges over lyrical reflections and thorny counterpoint, with a broad palette of extended piano techniques, including singing and whistling.

“Two songs,” Rzewski wrote, “aside from the theme itself, appear at various points: the Italian revolutionary song ‘Bandiera Rossa,’ in reference to the Italian people who in the ’70s opened their doors to so many refugees from Chilean fascism, and Hanns Eisler’s 1932 antifascist ‘Solidaritätslied,’ a reminder that parallels to present threats existed in the past and that it is important to learn from them. After the sixth cycle, the pianist is offered the option of improvising a cadenza... The extended length of the composition may be an allusion to the idea that the unification of people is a long story and that nothing worth winning is acquired without effort.”

There's A Relative Absence Of Chants In The 2020 United States Presidential Election. But Democrats Are STILL Fired Up & Ready To Go.

DNC War Room Nov 4, 2008

Edited by Azizi Powell

This pancocojams post presents an online excerpt that documents slogans attributed to the Donald Trump's 2020 campaign for re-election as President of the United States and slogans attributed to Senator Joe Biden's 2020 campaign for the Democratic candidate for President and the Biden/Harris campaign for the office of United States President and Vice President. for President.

This pancocojams post also provides a few examples of what I consider to be a paucity of chants in the 2020 Republican and Democratic presidential campaigns.

In contrast,  I present a YouTube video as a reminder of the call & response chant "Fired up! Ready to go." that was very widely used in Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign-  That chant was also used, but less often, in President Barack Obama's 2012 presidential re-election campaign.

Although I don't think that chant is used in the 2020 presidential campaigns, all signs point to the fact that people supporting the Biden/Harris Democratic slate are "Fired up! And ready to go".

WHY TRUMP’S NEW CAMPAIGN SLOGAN, “TRANSITION TO GREATNESS,” SENDS A DISASTROUS MESSAGE

A veteran media strategist for three presidential campaigns assesses the meanings of Trump’s (and Biden’s) use of the word “transition”: Where, exactly, are they transitioning to?

BY MARK MCKINNON, MAY 25, 2020
...."Recent history is filled with presidential campaign themes about the future. Bill Clinton declared he would “Build a Bridge to the 21st Century.” Barack Obama promised, during the middle of an economic meltdown, that he’d provide the “Change We Need” for the challenges ahead. But Trump ran for president during a unique era, one in which more voters liked the idea of moving backward—toward a familiar and comforting past.

It was no surprise, then, when Trump announced that his reelection-campaign theme would be “Keep America Great.” On brand. Direct but sort of meta. He was saying that he’d made America great. And he’d keep it that way. And to underscore the point, the campaign mantra became “Promises Made, Promises Kept.”

So, count me among the perplexed that Trump, who clearly considers himself a marketing genius, suddenly announced on May 8 that he was changing his theme to “Transition to Greatness.” He described his decision this way: “It’s a great term. Just came out at this meeting. That’s right. It came out by accident. It was a statement and it came out and you can’t get a better one. We can go to Madison Avenue and get the best, the greatest geniuses in the world to come up with a slogan but that’s the slogan we’re going to use. Transition to Greatness.”

[...]

Biden has repeatedly talked of “transition,” of being a transitional figure. “I view myself as a transition candidate,” Biden said during an online fundraiser with Mayor Pete Buttigieg. “My job is…to bring the Mayor Petes of the world into this administration…and even if they don’t come in, their ideas come into the administration.”

[...]

Remember Donald Trump’s pronouncement at the 2016 Republican National Convention that “I alone can fix it”? Well, Biden seems to be suggesting just the opposite. He appears to recognize that the challenges of the presidency require a lot more than one person. They require an A-team, as opposed to the ad hoc pickup squads that Trump has put on the field. They require people, like Biden, with experience in governing. Especially now. Biden’s message is, We, together, can fix this mess.

[...]

In truth, neither candidate’s use of the word or the concept suits this moment. What America needs is real leadership, competence, and proven economic and medical reassurance—in the here and now. Trump’s use of the word, however, has more downside for him than it does for Biden. I can only imagine the gnashing of teeth that accompanied Trump’s mid-campaign-season audible to switch to “Transition to Greatness.” Sure, it made sense that he was acknowledging how the pandemic had altered things (from, say, Great to Not So Great). And that the campaign should adapt. But his proposed solution might actually create openings for Biden to jump in and say, Transition to greatness? Why wait? I’ll deliver day one. I’ve done it before."...
-snip-
I'm definitely NOT a supporter of Trump or the Republican party, and perhaps I've missed the use of that political party's 2020 slogans. But it seems to me that the slogan that is most often used by trump's presidential campaign is "Make American Great Again" and (less often) "Keep America Great Again".

I'm definitely a supporter of Biden/Harris and the Democratic party, but without looking this subject up online, I couldn't think of any Biden or Biden/Harris slogan for 2020. That said, I strongly affirm the sentiment of these unofficial 2020 Democratic slogans: "Dump Trump",   "Anyone but Trump" ("ABT"), "'m voting for the other guy", and "I'm Ridin With Biden".

TRANSCRIPTION OF THE BARACK OBAMA "FIRED UP! READY TO GO" SPEECH THAT IS SHOWN IN THE EMBEDDED VIDEO

[Pancocojams Editor's note: This transcription is from that video's summary, but is presented in this blog with minor punctuation corrections.]

Manassas, Virginia, 11/3/08

"Obama: Finally we get to Greenwood. We pull up -- first of all, you don't know you're in Greenwood right away when you get to Greenwood, there aren't a lot of tall buildings there. We pull up to a small building, a field house in the park. We go inside. And lo and behold, after an hour and a half drive, turns out there are twenty people there. Twenty people, and they all look kind of damp and kind of sleepy, like maybe they aren't really excited to be there either. But you know, I am a professional. I've got to do what I got to do. [applause] So I go around, I'm shaking hands, I'm saying how ya doing, what are ya doing? [applause] Wait, wait. As I go around the room suddenly I hear this voice cry out behind me, "Fired Up!" And I'm shocked. I jump up. I don't know what's going on. But everybody else acts like this is normal and they say, "fired up." Then I hear this voice say, "ready to go!" And the other twenty people in the room, they act like this happens all the time, they say ready to go. I don't know what's going on. So I look behind me, and there's this small woman, about sixty years old, a little over five feet. It looks like she just came from church, got a big church hat. [laughter] And she's standing there and she looks at me and she's smiling. And she says, "fired up!"

Turns out she is a city councilwoman from Greenwood who also moonlights as a private detective -- I'm not making this up. [laughter] And it turns out she is famous for her chant. She does this wherever she goes, she says "fired up!" and everybody says "ready to go, ready to go." So for the next five minutes she proceeds to do this, "fired up" everybody says "ready to go." And I'm standing there and I'm thinking that I am being outflanked by this woman here. She's stealing my thunder. I look at my staff, they shrug their shoulders, they don't know how long this is going to go.

But here's the thing, Virginia -- after a minute or so, I'm feeling kind of fired up. [applause] I'm feeling like I'm ready to go. So I join in the chant. And it feels good. And for the rest of the day, even after we left Greenwood, even though it was still raining, even though I was still not getting big crowds anywhere, even though we hadn't gotten the endorsements of the people we were hoping for, somehow I felt a little lighter, I felt a little better. I'd see my staff, Id say, are you fired up? They'd say we're fired up boss, are you ready to go?

Here's my point, Virginia -- that's how this thing started. It shows you what one voice can do. One voice can change a room; and if a voice can change a room, it can change a city; and if it can change a city it can change a state; and if change a state, it can change a nation; and if it can change a nation, it can change the world! Virginia, your voice can change the world tomorrow! [applause] In 21 hours, if you are willing, if you are willing to endure some rain, if you are willing to drag that person you know who was not going to vote to the polls, if you're willing to organize and volunteer in the offices, if you are willing to stand with me, if you are willing to fight with me, I know that your voice will matter.

So I've just got one question for you, Virginia. Are you fired up?
["Yeah"]
Are you ready to go?
["Yeah"]
Fired up?
["Fired Up!"]
Ready to go?
["Ready to Go!"]
Fired up?
["Fired Up!"]
Ready to go?
["Ready to Go!"]
Fired up?
["Fired Up!"]
Ready to go?
["Ready to Go!"]

Virginia, let's go change the world. Thank you. God bless you, and God bless the United States of America."
-snip-
"Fired up! Ready to go" is a call and response chant that has this pattern::
[one designated-or self-designated person says] - "Fired up!"

[the rest of the group responds] - "Ready to go".

Repeat this pattern multiple times.
