This is Part II of a two part series on "Dubstepping". "Dubstepping" is popping (dancing) to Dubstep music.

Part II showcases two videos of Marquese Scott's "Pumped Up Kicks" dubstepping performances and focuses on the use of a number of English slang terms that are used to compliment Marquese Scott (Nonstop)'s dubstepping.

Definitions for these slang terms and a few other vernacular terms are included in this post.

Note: I believe that most (if not all) of the slang terms highlighted below came from African American (Hip Hop) Vernacular English. That said, I'm open to alternative theories about the origins of these terms, and the meanings of these terms.

Beast

I think the slang meaning of "beast" comes from or is closely related to the slang meanings of the words "killed it" ("killin it"), "murdered", and "slayed". All of these words (including the word "owned") mean to do something extremely well. A beast has superhuman power and is able to demolish anything (anyone) who dares to challenge it (him or her).

The slang use of the word "ill" has the same meaning as the word "sick" although no comments with that term are included in the featured comments.* That might suggest that the slang usage of the word "ill" has been retired among African Americans. It also suggests that unlike the slang meaning of "sick", the slang term "ill" hasn't been picked up by non-African Americans..

Someone described as being the boss is also "cool" and "awesome".

This second meaning may have come from or been popularized by the nickname for Rock star Bruce Sprinsteen.

I believe that "brother", "brother man" etc. were reactions to the use of "boy" as a referent for Black men in mainstream American society and in other Western societies. Referring to a male, regardless of race/ethnicity, as "bro" is an extension of that earlier application.
