This pancocojams post departs from the mission of this pancocojams blog by showcasing two travel YouTube videos of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and one YouTube video of the now classic children's television series Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. That television series was filmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A brief excerpt of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood's Wikipedia page is included in this pancocojams post.

Thanks to the producers and publishers of these showcased videos. Thanks also to the residents past and present of my second hometown, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1969 from Atlantic City, New Jersey and have lived here ever since. A number of the posts that I've published on this pancocojams blog highlight my second hometown- Pittsburgh.
Click https://pancocojams.blogspot.com/2025/11/links-to-pancocojams-posts-that-feature.html for a post that compiles a list of pancocojams posts from 2011-2025 that I've published that feature Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in one way or another.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8k9NmjpW00 Pittsburgh: the Affordable Urbanism Mecca? published by Ray Delahanty | CityNerd, Jun 18, 2025 is a YouTube video about Pittsburgh, Pa. that showcases some of what the publisher considered the top neighborhoods in that city, including the largely commercial part of East Liberty, the neighborhood I've lived for 50+ years.
I'm surprised that the neighborhood of Oakland (where a lot of universities, and hospitals, Shenley Par, one of Pittsburgh's major parks, and museums wasn't featured. I'm also surprised that none of the Northside communities were featured since the main Northside community is where two major sport stadiums are located.

SHOWCASE TRAVEL VIDEO #2 - Why Pittsburgh Is So Different From Every Other U.S. City

That has to be one of the most spectacular commutes in the country.
You drive through a tunnel — and suddenly, the entire skyline of Pittsburgh appears.
Built at the meeting point of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, this city has one of the most distinctive geographies in the United States.
It’s surrounded by cliffs and crossed by hundreds of bridges and tunnels, forcing engineers to build a transport network unlike anywhere else.
But geography didn’t just shape how Pittsburgh looks — it shaped its history.
From the rise and fall of the steel industry to its modern reinvention around Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, and UPMC,
this is the story of a city that had to constantly adapt to survive

The American national debut of the show occurred on February 19, 1968. It aired

The series is aimed primarily at preschool children ages 2 to 5, but it was labeled by PBS as "appropriate for all ages".[5] Mister Rogers' Neighborhood was produced by Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania public broadcaster WQED and Rogers' non-profit production company Family Communications, Inc., previously known as Small World Enterprises prior to 1971; the company was renamed The Fred Rogers Company after Rogers' death (it has since been renamed again to Fred Rogers Productions as of 2019).[6][7] In May 1997, the series surpassed Captain Kangaroo as the longest-running children's television series,[8][2] a record the series held until June 2003, when Sesame Street beat Mister Rogers' record. The series could be seen in reruns on most PBS stations until August 31, 2007,[9] when it began to be removed by various PBS stations, and was then permanently removed from the daily syndicated schedule by PBS after August 29, 2008"...
