Edited by Azizi Powell

This pancocojams post showcases four YouTube videos of the South African gwijo (sport song)entitled "Halala". These are the only examples of this particular gwijo that I've found to date which include lyrics to that sports song on their screen or in their discussion thread.
Notice that since gwijos in essence are folk songs, the lyrics for these examples aren't  exactly the same.

The content of this post is presented for cultural, recreational, and aesthetic purposes.

All copyrights remain with their owners.

Thanks to the composer/s of this song and thanks to all those who are featured in these videos. Thanks also to the publishers of these videos on YouTube.

This post is part of an ongoing pancocojams series on gwijos*. Click https://pancocojams.blogspot.com/2021/09/what-do-xhosa-south-africa-words-gwijo.html for the first pancocojams post in that series which is entitled What Does The IsiXhosa (South African) Words "Amagwijo" & "Igwijo" Mean?

PANCOCOJAMS EDITOR'S NOTE
The YouTube videos that are showcased in this pancocojams post are only a small sample of this gwijo that are found on YouTube  This sample includes those videos of "Halala" that have lyrics for this song on their screen or lyrics for this song in that video's discussion thread.

The translations from isiXhosa to English are the results of the Google translate feature. Additions and corrections are very welcome.

**
The English translation of the isiXhosa word "halala" is "congratulations" (on Google translate and elsewhere online). However, in the United States, the winning team or individual doesn't say "congratulations" to themselves. Instead, the winners say something like "Hooray!" to applaud themselves and the losing team/individual says "congratulations" to them. "Thank you" is the proper response to someone saying "congratulations" to you for your achievement.

In spite of this difference in cultural practices, I've kept the word "congratulations" in the examples below as the English translation for "halala".

**
The Google translate feature translates the isiXhosa word "iyoh" as either "wow" or "yes".. In the context of these gwijos, I believe that "Wow" is a better translation than "yes".

**
The spelling "gwijos" ['gwijo" with an s" at the end] is an English language plural form of that isiXhosa word.". "AmaGwijo" is the Xhosa plural form for "gwijo" Although the word "gwijos" is incorrect in isiXhosa, I've seen it used in a number of YouTube discussion thread comments about a particular gwijo or about more than one gwijo. Consequently, I've chosen to use the word "gwijos" in pancocojams posts on this subject.

Disclaimer:
I'm an African American who knows no other language but English. All of the information about gwijos that is included in this pancocojams post was retrieved from the internet.

Additions and corrections to this post are very welcome.
