(Four Year Old) Super Siah - "This Is The Bunny" (A Children's Easter Rap/Song)

Edited by Azizi Powell

This pancocojams post showcases a YouTube video of an Easter rap/song that is performed by four year old "Super Siah".

A transcription of this song is included in this post. Additions and corrections are welcome.

Selected comments from this video's discussion thread (as of March 2018) are also included in this post*. Explanatory notes about some of the vernacular words or phrases in these comments are also included in this post.

The content of this post is presented for cultural, entertainment, linguistic, and aesthetic purposes.

Thanks to the composer of this song and thanks to performer Super Siah. (The name "Siah" is pronounced "Si" to rhyme with the English word "hi" + "ah") . Thanks to Super Siah's mother who plays the role of the Easter Bunny in this video, and thanks to all those who are featured in this video and are responsible for the high quality of this video and this Rap.

*This pancocojams post was originally published on March 30, 2018. When I revisited this video on April 19, 2019, I found out that the comment feature is now disabled. YouTube video publishers usually disable the comment feature when there are a large number of offensive comments published on their videos' discussion threads.

The only difference between these two pancocojams posts is the statistics. I've included the 2018 statistics and the comments from March 2018 in this post.

Click https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnb6vsckgE4 for another Easter video (April 2018) with Super Siah. This is a longer video that features the Easter bunny hiding eggs and Siah repeatedly singing that same "This is the bunny" song. Throughout this video a woman comments off-camera and Siah also comments on-camera while he searches for the Easter eggs and then counts the eggs that he found. Comments are disabled for that video.

LYRICS: THIS IS THE EASTER BUNNY*
(performed by Super Siah); Rapping portion only

This is the Bunny that hides your eggs
That always filled of sweets
It's white and fuzzy with jumpety feet and big ole buck tooth teeth.
She hops, hops, hops and bops, bops, bops
To the houses on the street.
They're filled with sweets and if your lucky,
You'll even find money.

(This Rap repeats three more times.)
-snip-
*I used the title "This Is The Bunny" rather than the more ubiquitous title "Official Bunny Song" that is the title of that video.
-snip-
Thanks to commenter Jada Ballew who published her transcription of this song (including the spoken lines) in this video's discussion thread. That comment is found as #5 below.

Note that the Rap portion that is found in this post is slightly different from Jada Bailew's transcription. Some commenters transcribed the word "tooth" as "two".

Thanks to my daughter Tazi M. Hughes who transcribed the Rap portion of this song. Additions and corrections for this transcription of this song's lyrics are welcome.

"Sweets" is sometimes given as "tweets" in this video's discussion thread below, but since there's an Easter holiday custom of putting candy inside colored plastic Easter eggs that are hidden for children to find, I think that "sweets" is the correct transcription.

The last two lines in this song refer to the Easter custom in the USA, if not elsewhere of adults hiding plastic, colored Easter eggs filled with candy ("sweets") and some plastic, colored eggs filled with money and children searching for those hidden eggs. In this video, only the golden eggs are filled with money and those eggs are larger than the other plastic eggs. (I've hidden coins and paper dollars in plastic Easter eggs that are different colors and not in plastic golden eggs which, in my experience, only recently begun to be sold in stores where I shop.)

total views - 14,165,390

total number of likes - 52,000

total number of dislike - 10,000

These statistics are really remarkable for a YouTube children's holiday video. Notice the huge increase in numbers from March 29, 2018.

I think that one reason for these numbers-in addition to the rap/song and the video being so cute- is that there are very few children's live or cartoon Easter holiday videos on YouTube.

SELECTED COMMENTS FROM THIS VIDEO'S DISCUSSION THREAD (as of March 30, 2018)
Here are some comments from this YouTube video's discussion thread (with numbers assigned for referencing purposes). All of these comments are from 2018.

I'm particularly interested in documenting the use of African American Vernacular English by commenters praising this song and I strongly agree with the numerous assertions that this song should be promoted on the radio and available for sale in music stores and on iTunes and other similar sites. Unfortunately, I don't think this has happened as of April 2019.

"Super siah he is 4 years and I am really surprise he can rap I am so glad that he did it all by himself"

5. Kamiyah McConico
"He little and got more bars than some people older than him"
-snip-
A person who "gots bars" or "spits bars" means that he or she raps really well (has rapping skills).

Here's information about the term"bars" as it is refers to Rapping (Hip Hop) from https://www.quora.com/How-are-rap-lyrics-divided-into-bars
"Timothy Ssw Adjoda, Beatmaker/Producer/Engineer/Artist at MusiKingz, Answered Jan 20, 2017
"Most rap songs have a 4/4 time signature. This means that a bar would be equal to 4 beats. A beat would be everytime you tapped your feet if you were tapping it at a constant rhythm to the song. So a new bar would begin everytime you tapped your feet 4 times. These numbers would change depending on time signature, but rap songs will have 4/4 time signature almost always.

Typically, a standard verse in a rap song is 16 bars, and the chorus is 4 or 8. You can, of course, make it however long you want. Some songs might have a 32 bar verse. Although you will find songs with different amount of bars for different parts of the song, it will more than likely be a number that is 2 to the power of some integer (Example: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, etc.)."

"I am a whole teenager. I am about to be 17 years old. Heard my 5 y/o brother listening to this before school. He listened to it 3x in a row. Guess what song was stuck in my head all day? 😭😭 This adorable lil baby boutta blow up if he keeps making bops like this"

12. Kidd Gaming
"OH YEAA SIAHHHHHHπŸ’ͺπŸΎπŸ’―πŸ”₯πŸ”₯this is too lit"
-snip-
"Lit" is by far the adjective that is used the most in this YouTube discussion thread and in YouTube discussion for many genres of contemporary music worldwide.

The vernacular term "lit" is part of the African American "hot" family of complimentary words and phrases that include "hot" (without its sexy, sensuous connotations), "fire", "smoking", burning up, dynamite, "the bomb", etc. Notice the flame emojis that are found in these comments which convey this same meaning.

"Too lit" is a complimentary description meaning "really lit" ("really very good".)

13. Brandon Evans
"Love Love Love Super Siah so cute and funny when you found the money"

**
14. Kalia Jackson
"The 417 who disliked it they are hatters"
-snip-
"Hatters" is correctly spelled "haters". A hater is someone who criticizes a person for no legitimate reason.

**
15. ItzQweenRaven
"Siah is a cutiiie. also dis beat go hard"
-snip-
"dis [This] beat go hard".

My guess is that "dis" is purposely used to evoke a Hip Hop "flavor". "Going hard" is a complementary term that means something is "awesome", "tight", "lit", "fire", "the bomb" as judged by the tough standards of (African American) street cultures.

16. donielle123 mack
"Ok super Siah i see you got swag"
-snip-
In the context of this comment "swag" means "self confident style"

"Good work super siah my lil brother can't stop playing this song keep up great work hope u can make more and that beat is so awesome"

**
18. muhammad adris
"This is the best rap ever yo"
-snip-
In my opinion, the word "yo" at the end of this sentence has no literal meaning, but is used to convey a Hip Hop flavor that is meant to assert that the commenter is up to date with the latest street slang.

**
19. Thatswag Caiden
"Y’all should put this on iTunes I tried to find it"

**
20. Amiah Johnson
"aye this lit my little cuz keep playing this song"

**
23. PleaseIgnoreMe
"Whoever knew a mom cosplaying as the easter bunny would ever dab."
-snip-
"The dap" is a contemporary Hip Hop dance move which is similar to the movement people do when they sneeze into the "inside" of their elbow.

"cosplay" = costume play, meaning wearing a costume of a (usually) fictional character (usually at conventions such as ComicCon

"Aye it’s litt to πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”‘❤️"
-snip-
"Aye" is an African American exclamatory term whose meaning may be similar to "Yeah" or may just be an exclamation that conveys approval and excitement similar to how "Hey!" is sometimes used.

**
35. Jay Jay
"This is fireπŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ’―πŸ’―"

36. Raniya Johnson
"This song is fye I see super siah got bars πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯🌈"

"fye" is a vernacular spelling for the word "fire"🌫

**
37. Lanijah moore
"The beat tho"
-snip-
Contrary to its standard American meaning, the beat tho [though] or any similarly worded partial sentence -such as "His voice though" and "His clothes though- means that you are pointing out something that is particularly impressive about that person, that song, or that performance.

**
38. Tanae Williams9540
"Yooo this has to go on SoundCloud , Siah killed this song bruh it’s so lit & adorable"
-snip-
"Yooo" here may mean "Hey" or may a term without any meaning except to convey a Hip Hop flavor.

"This should be a meme it's litπŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯🀑🀑"

Here are two definitions for "meme" from https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/meme
"meme: an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture
[...]
2 meme : an amusing or interesting item (such as a captioned picture or video) or genre of items that is spread widely online especially through social media
