This post showcases lyrics and video examples of the Gospel song "This Morning When I Rose".
Notice that a video of the Mississippi Mass Choir's rendition of this song (which is found below as Example #1) gives "When I Rose This Morning" as the title of that song. I think that might be a mistake.

LYRICS: THIS MORNING WHEN I ROSE
(Written by: H.L. Parker and Carlton Reese)
[Arrangement as sung by the Mississippi Mass Choir]
Verse 1:
(This morning when I rose),
I didn't have no doubt.
(This morning when I rose),
I didn't have no doubt.
(This morning when I rose),
I didn't have no doubt.
(I know the Lord) will take care of me,
(I know the Lord) will provide for me,
(and I know He will)
lead and guide me all the way,
yes, all the way.
Verse 2:
(I woke up this morning, I saw a brand new day),
I didn't have no doubt.
(I woke up this morning, I saw a brand new day),
I didn't have no doubt.
(I woke up this morning, I saw a brand new day),
I didn't have no doubt.
(I know the Lord) will take care of me,
(I know the Lord) will provide for me,
(and I know He will)
lead and guide me all the way,
yes, all the way.
Verse 3:
(I woke up this morning with the Holy Ghost)
I didn't have no doubt.
(I woke up this morning with the Holy Ghost)
I didn't have no doubt.

I didn't have no doubt.

There was a verse in the original version by Rev Parker, my father. It was:
ReplyDelete"Sometimes at midnight, my pillow is wet with tears. My friends, gone and left me. My enemies around me still. But, God has promised, he'd wipe away all my tears; and I knew the Lord..."
OneChat, thanks for sharing that verse from your father with us.
DeleteI appreciate it.
In my church growing up, the choir lead (M. Evans) would sing the song more like the last version but with the lyrics, "This morning when I rose Lord"l
ReplyDeleteUnknown, thanks for sharing that information.
DeleteI love videos of that Gospel song, but don't remember hearing it song in person.
