INFORMATION ABOUT SISTER GERTRUDE MORGAN
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gertrude_Morgan
"Sister Gertrude Morgan (1900-1980) was a preacher, missionary, artist, musician, and poet who worked in New Orleans in the 1960s and '70s, notable primarily for her folk art...

Music was one of the tools of her ministry, and in the early 1970s, Let's Make A Record was recorded in order to capture Morgan singing and playing her tambourine.

...in 2005, the Ropeadope label released King Britt presents Sister Gertrude Morgan, which took the a cappella/tambourine recordings of Let's Make A Record and added contemporary beat programming and instrumentation. The album received rave reviews and created a new, young audience for Sister Gertrude Morgan. The album artwork featured her paintings."

Let's Make A Record

...In addition to painting, [Sister Gertrude] Morgan sang and even recorded an album -- Let's Make a Record -- consisting of various spirituals, gospel tunes, and largely original Morgan lyrics to the tune of her tambourine. She would also recite scripture and improvise short sermons throughout the tracks. Like her paintings, her music was largely instructional and included her own exegesis of particular texts. The apocalyptic urgency of her paintings is present in her music too; in her song "Power," she sing/preaches:
Troubling people, don't let 'em rest, continue
Let them know they got a soul to save
Shake 'em up and wake 'em up
Yes lord, power, power
Yes lord, put their mind on the kingdom
You pay that prayer that power like kingdom come
Now they're not prepared for the kingdom
They don't believe in the kingdom, amen
Talkin' bout everyone got to die, the church say amen.

LYRICS: HE WROTE THE REVELATION
(Sister Gertrude Morgan)

Spoken: Amen.
[Ah] He wrote the Revelation
while He was writin,
He wrote the Revelation
while He was writin.
He wrote the Revelation
while He was writin.
Ah John, He left your book.
Don’t write no more.
Don’t write no more.

[Mmm I said] He wrote the Revelation
while He was writin.
He wrote the Revelation
while He was writin.
Ah John, He left your book, John
Don’t write no more.
Ah, don’t you write no more.

I said He wrote to the churches
while He was writin.
Wrote to the churches
while He was writin.
He wrote ah to all the churches
while He was writin.
[Ow!] He left your book
Don’t write no more, John.
Don’t you write no more.

Spoken: Hallelujah.
Glory.
Glory.
Glory.
Hallelujah!
Praise Him!
Praise Him!
Praise Him!
Praise Him!
Aah! Yes Lord!
Power!
Ah, it’s good to praise God
Amen.

I placed the interjections & certain other words in brackets because I don't think they are necessarily a part of the song's lyrics. I also don't think that the words that are spoken are necessarily a part of this song's lyrics.

LYRICS: IF YOU LIVE LIKE JESUS TOLD YOU
(Sister Gertrude Morgan)

If You Live Like Jesus Told You
Everything will, will be alright.
If You Live Like Jesus Told You
Everything will be alright.

It’ll be alright. [Hallelujah!]
It’ll be alright [Woo!]
Everything will, will be alright.

He will may your, your way easy
and your burden will be light.
If You Live Like Jesus Told You
Everything will, will be alright.

He will may your, your way easy
and your burden will be light.
If you love like Jesus told you
Everything will, will be alright.
He will may your, your way easy
and your burden will be light.

It’ll be alright.
It’ll be alright.
Everything will be alright.
He will may your, your way easy
and your burdens will be light.

If you walk like Jesus told you
Everything will be alright.
He will may your, your way easy
and your burden will be light.

Spoken: Hallelujah!
Amen.
Pray like Jesus told you.
