This pancocojams post showcases six videos of African American originated Rhythm & Blues dances from the 1960s. Given in alphabetical order, the dances that are showcased in this post are "The Boogaloo", "The Hully Gully", "The Jerk", "The Pony", "Tighten Up", and "The Twist".
These film clips (videos) document a time when African Americans were only featured on television programs as entertainers for White people. Consequently, the studio dancers are White, and their dancing often doesn't accurately reflect how the dance was supposed to be done.
The content of this post is presented for sociological, entertainment, and aesthetic reasons.
