I'm really glad i read this first. I had no clue what the song was really about. I'm a white chick who's never heard the name Rastus before today, and my great-grandfather is named Rufus, so the title of the song didn't clue me in. Also, the version of the song i have, ina piano anthology of popular songs from 1900-1909, the publishers (or someone) replaced the word "coon " with "Hon ".
