Hopefully, Sydney Australia and other parts of the world (including Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA where I'm living) will get [somewhat] back to normal soon.

I appreciate you sharing information about the song "99 1/2 won't do". It prompted me to do a bit of online research before I re-read this post. As a result I wrote you pointing to the Williams Brothers example and mentioning Wilson Pickett's R&B version.

But those examples are already noted in this 2015 post.

Here's another possibility:
You could be referring to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MheTWDJWiP0&ab_channel=dimmerswitchproductions "Ninety-Nine And A Half (Won't Do)" | By and By: New Orleans Gospel at the Crossroads

"The Electrifying Crown Seekers take "Ninety-Nine And A Half" for a drive -- and we mean DRIVE. Blistering guitar, growling lead vocals, and a quartet background that doesn't stop. And there's more -- the documentary "By and By" is in post-production. NOLA's remaining gospel quartets will finally have their chance to shine -- we hope!"

I’ve decided to publish a pancocojams post on this Gospel version as well as the secular versions. Thanks for prompting me to share them on pancocojams.
Azizi Powellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14963772326145910073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5893219718076521675.post-5588453680987963482021-06-27T06:21:39.795-04:002021-06-27T06:21:39.795-04:00Hi Azizi, I'm Ross - greetings from Covid lock...Hi Azizi, I'm Ross - greetings from Covid lockdown in Sydney Australia. I've come across a version of 99 and a 1/2 by two male voices who share different parts of the lyric. It's fast tempo in the key of C with two acoustic guitars - there's some fast picking and slide and a little bit of harmonica solo. It's a great version - very exciting. Would you have any idea who the guys are? With thanks for your interesting blog on this song. Regards RossRosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04888053884809859358noreply@blogger.com
