This arrangement by Lisa Goettel."...
-snip-
That page includes sound files for different voices of the same rendition which sounds like the Sound Of Blackness rendition.
I'm not sure what the referent "traditional Gospel" means, but I think that "traditional Gospel" means the same as an African American Spiritual.

You've started me on a quest to suss out information about this song. I've come across several comments stating that "Hold On" (Just A Little While Longer" is a song that was sung during African American slavery. I've also come across comments giving various dates in the 20th century when this date was composed. However, since this song is featured in the 1994 Sound Of Blackness album, the composition date for that arrangement can't be after 1994.Azizi Powellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14963772326145910073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5893219718076521675.post-9163496953327371362019-08-06T11:23:03.523-04:002019-08-06T11:23:03.523-04:00Thank you for sharing, ahh and I did not know when...Thank you for sharing, ahh and I did not know when it was written originally, anyway it was quite an adventure to discover and imagine the chords and voices!!
