These dances appear to me to be similar if not the same as the buck dancing of the Mardi Gras Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs & their second lines. <br />AND it seems to me that those secular dances have a lot in common with the manner of doing the Pentecostal holy dance ("cutting a step", shouting).<br /><br />Also, speaking of Pentecostal cutting a step, some people equate those fast paced foot stomping movements as stomping on the devil's head.
